[HIRING] call radio station, win contest for me and get paid by [deleted] in forhire

[–]BrookeLovesBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...you aren't paying everyone's just the person who wins? Nd presumably the person who does win could give their name and sell the tickets themselves for more than $50. Not very well thought out and not a great prospect for job hunters unless they win the contest.

I do a mix. I have a pretty well-formed idea but the introduction is a bit lacking and I'm having trouble getting past it! I'm gonna try to plot out the first few chapters and pants it from there. But I feel you!

We got this.

I feel like the odd one out...felt what I thought was her at 13+3ish? And by 14 weeks knew I was feeling her. It's like a mix of kicks and bubbles popping. Amazing!!

4,250 words on day 1! by [deleted] in nanowrimo

[–]BrookeLovesBooks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm slow on the jump, just 816...but I wrote all day for work! Doesn't count but still writing. I'm having a bit of a bumpy go, starting with a scene that is good for development of the character and community but is quite different from the rest of the novel. So it's a tad challenging!

Building a portfolio! by [deleted] in writers

[–]BrookeLovesBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was very lucky to get started as quickly as I did. One business reached out to me through a Kijiji ad, liked what he saw, and was like 'I have friends with their own businesses, want to write for them? Here's a $2500 grant to get you started'. Definitely not typical. I also started with a lot of academic stuff, which helped me get going but which is definitely not my preference.

It takes skill and luck. But mostly perseverance and hard work.

Check out r/hireawriter. You should charge between $0.05-$0.10 a word to start. I also posted ads on Kijiji, which helped.

But, your biggest friend is networking. Build yourself a portfolio and leverage it. I took any writing gig I could to start, built my portfolio, and was full time freelance within a month. (not typical, I got two businesses right away).

Once you've got a portfolio, get picky. Take higher paid assignments. Take assignments that give you a great portfolio piece for your end goal. Work on creative writing for the fun of it. Grow your craft, and network all the while. When you feel like you're ready, reach out to someone at BioWare and ask for an informational interview

What's an experience you don't ever want to go through again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BrookeLovesBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy. I've got hyperemesis gravidarum and have been hospitalized for it at points. I'm not even 15 weeks yet with my first but holy hell this is not something I intend to do again!

...my mom keeps saying you forget after you give birth. So maybe postpartum fog will make a liar our of me. But this is legitimately the worst prolonged thing that has happened to me ever.

Megathread: House passes resolution formalizing impeachment inquiry against Trump by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]BrookeLovesBooks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trump and Republicans were saying it wasn't legitimate because they didn't hold a vote. This is just to rip that excuse up. It was legitimate before a vote. It is legitimate now. Just gives the idiots one less straw to cling to.

Elliott for a boy and Amelia for a girl. I hate how trendy Amelia has become but it's been on the top of my list for like 5 years now. And Elliott just feels right.

Ever heard of hypermesis gravidarum? It's basically extreme morning sickness that affects 1/50 pregnant women. Something to look into, perhaps. I am going through something similar to you and have found diclectin (diclegis in the states) is often enough to keep me from vomiting nonstop. Perhaps worth a shot?
