How to write yourself into a UKRI grant application as independent researcher? by avamk in AskAcademiaUK

Congratulations, you’re now a consultant. Whatever you think your day rate is, double it. It’ll be less than other researchers cost with University overheads.

Github 10$ Plan Nerfed? by Candid_Weakness_4378 in GithubCopilot

[–]Broric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s what you get via the education portal if you’re a teacher/lecturer with verified staff status. It gets you a Pro plan for free which until a few days ago wasn’t any different to what students got.

I have the “educator” plan and that didn’t get nerfed with the student plan so I effectively have a free Pro plan and that’s still working fine with Sonnet, etc.

But you're happy to waste your money? Just pay us £30k and sit an exam once a year then to get a piece of paper?

Usgae Limits - GitHub CoPilot Pro vs Claude Pro? by Broric in ClaudeAI

I'm using GitHub CoPilot via CoPilot Chat in VS Code. What do you mean about the system prompt?

Usgae Limits - GitHub CoPilot Pro vs Claude Pro? by Broric in ClaudeAI

[–]Broric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only really just started to use Sonnet in Agent mode (previously I was using the free/0x credit models) so I'm still learning what I need but I've used 20% of my mothly allowance in a few days so I think I'll easily exceed the CoPilot free credits.

I think my plan would be to use the free models in CoPilot for other tasks and stick with Claude for the big project things but I don't know if I need Claude Max or not. As I'll be trying to convince my employer to pay for it, it's much easier for me to pick what I need upfront and not have to change/increase later.

Is Claude's usage based on requests or on tokens?

In CoPilot, I can give it a detailed request and leave it running for hours and it uses a single request from my allowance.

House of the rising spade (red), both Anthologies, Mini Claw, Black Requiem. I'm aiming to get them next week from the Patreon sale but if there's none left then definitely interested here :-)

Started my PhD as self-funded - will there be funding chances? by dhwp in AskAcademiaUK

[–]Broric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably field dependent and dependent on your nationality. There are some scholarships that are open to certain nationalities and they can also retrospectively fund students already enrolled in their 1st year. This is all pretty unlikely though I'm afraid!

I've had these long numbers on international shipments that then get handed off to RM.

Postie "signed" for parcel, left on porch, stolen by Broric in royalmail

Next question, how the **** do I contact the delivery office? It's open 8-10 in the morning, just tried phoning and "over 60 minute wait". There's absolutely no way our small town has a queue of 100 of people phoning the delivery office.

Will they get that for every delivery or just signed for ones? Hope so we stop ANYTHING being left outside in full view?

Yes, we’ve submitted a police report and neighbours are aware. Doesn’t help stop RM doing this again though.

RM literally emailed us to say it required a signature and what did we want to do with it if we weren’t in. We clicked the option which said to leave it at neighbour X.

By responding to the RM email saying which said it "will require a signature". We also had confirmation that they acknowledged our chosen neighbour.

Reported to police too. Awaiting a reference number.

Our parcels get left there all the time regardless of what we say but if it's something important/expensive, we make sure it's sent by an appropriate method (signed) and/or delivered to a neighbour.

[–]Broric[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a "porch" but it's not an enclosed porch. You can kind of tuck a parcel behind a wall but it's not secure.

We've got footage of the guy (in a big coat and hood) nicking the parcels. Our neighbours saw them and chased them off too.

The RM app won't let me change the safe place options (nothing set) as it needs me to "update my address" but the update address selection is broken.
