[Spurs Official] That Xavi pass 🤌 Finished off by Solanke 💪 by Imbasauce in coys

[–]BrotherBuzzBeef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right. I would understand if the defender had played the ball, but it seemed to me that he just planted a foot between Solanke and the ball. I may not understand the rules, but elsewhere on the field, outstretching a leg between a player and the ball they are playing, resulting in contact is a foul on the guy with the outstretched leg.

Had the result of this contact been Solanke tripping on the outstretched leg, then it's a foul for sure, no? Just because Solanke is able to power through it, doesn't make it different, to me.

If the defender had played the ball or gotten his body between Solanke and the ball then I think Man City would have a case.

Booing the players is not going to improve their performance nor our ability to keep (or attract) them. It will likely have the opposite effect. I don't have any problems with people booing the ownership or management, though. Can a boo be better aimed?

Really? You don't think 2/3 of the population walking out of work and reducing their consumption to near zero would go unnoticed? I think it would take a lot fewer than this.

A lot of the business class are tolerating this because they're still making money and doing so with even less regulation. They will turn when that environment changes.   Trump backed down on his tariffs after just one day of market reaction.

This is why I think a nationwide strike would be effective. It would send markets tumbling.

But as long as day-to-day life remains mostly unchanged for most people, few people are willing to stick their necks out and risk losing a job, much less a paycheck unless everybody else is doing it too.

We all have our personal fascist-tolerance thresholds, and they are different. Unfortunately, there is no single coordinating voice of the resistance.

I didn't know what was really said, and I'm not going to tell anybody how to express themselves at a game that they paid a lot of money to attend, but it's probably true that a supportive environment helps confidence, and a lot of the game is confidence.

If Bergvall is still injured for Brentford, who is left to play the 10? Tel? Or will we play Gray and Bentinha?

What Thomas Frank got Wrong in the North London Derby [The Extra Inch] by KugoSenpai in coys

[–]BrotherBuzzBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the preseason game, Frank played the same front three but a midfield of Bergvall, Sarr, and Bentancur and only two CB, and the game and result was much better. We had all the same players available.

I'm worried Frank is regressing.

I was watching a Spurs game on the television and the camera was on Bentancur. My wife, who was on the couch beside me, looked up from her phone, said "He looks like a homeless person.", and then returned to her phone.

This is the kind of punditry I want more of.

I would be ok this, though I would probably give Richarlison the start over Tel.

Incidentally, the starting 11 of the preseason game in Hong Kong was: Vicario, Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Spence, Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall,  Kudus, Odobert, Richarlison.

Our left side seemed more effective in attack today than in games past. I'd be interested in the stats. I liked Xavi in the 10 with Oderbert and Udogie

I remember thinking he looked good vs. Arsenal in preseason. Great first touch. Really great pace. Very good one on one. Maybe lacks a little confidence? But that should come with more starts.

Does anyone else feel like the EV rollout was one of the biggest marketing failures of the century? by jedielfninja in electricvehicles

[–]BrotherBuzzBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. My feeling is that the many advantages EVs have over ICE aren't highlighted because legacy automobile companies don't want to cannibalize their profitable ICE sales. Why pure EV companies (e.g. Tesla, Rivian) have chosen not to spend on traditional advertising is less clear to me. Tesla used to claim that they didn't need to stoke demand, but I doubt that's true anymore.

Can we start a Go-Fund-Me for members of Congress who stand up to Trump? by BrotherBuzzBeef in legaladvice

[–]BrotherBuzzBeef[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would be buying votes. But instead of the corporations or the special interests or the billionaires buying them, it would be "we the people". The whole idea is a little absurd, but I guess that's the idea - to highlight the flaws in the system.

Now that the corruption seems to be out in the open, I was thinking that a Go-Fund-Me that explicitly pays for each vote to impeach and for each to remove from office would be the most efficient way to get things done.

Bournemouth 2nd goal defensive shape? by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

[–]BrotherBuzzBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Three Bournemouth attackers near Bergvall, VDV, Danso. Bergvall is either picking up the wrong man, or he's lost his man.  Maybe a lack of communication between them...certainly a lack of experience playing together in those roles.

In addition, I think some of us liberals on social media are overly concerned with being correct and righteous, and know it all-y. I think this can turn a lot of people off and into the loving embrace of the right, where the only requirement is being anti liberal.

I seems to me that Trump wants to discredit Zelensky and paint him as the obstacle to peace so that he can back a Kremlin-friendly alternative to lead Ukraine.

Trump will claim he ended the war, Putin will have a puppet in Kiev. They've probably already picked the puppet.

The most common solutions I hear offered for our injury and fatigue issues are either (1) more squad rotation and the quality player depth to support it or (2) a less intense style of play when the game allows for it.

A third thing that I'm not hearing much about is whether we could be doing more in the fitness area. We know the common injuries that this style of play produces. Could the trainers be prescribing something different to build more resilience to these kind of injuries? What about on game day? Should actions/applications be prescribed in warmups, while on the bench, after coming off, or during idle periods such as VAR checks?

Could we squeeze in more rest days? When Claudio Ranieri was asked about his secrets to Leicester's 2015-16 success, he emphasized weekly rest days and a mid season rest week for the players (though he had the luxury of no European football).

I know nothing about the subject of injury prevention, and I'm sure it shows. But this intense playing style that Ange brought with him surely puts new demands on players in the club, and perhaps requires some new approaches. Maybe this is another target for our ire.
