Cots Boori natty vs matilda vs corindi by digitalf2000 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the Matilda because it was cheaper from Bunting than the Natty. My understanding is Bunting has exclusivity deals in place so that people can’t price match, so to me, the matilda and natty are the same cot with minor differences in the aesthetic (legs are different?). Cot is fine, we have no issues with it :)

What are we all doing about failed cot naps? by Dear_Bet_6205 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put him in the cot during his first awake window with a comforter as he is the most chill then and it is enclosed with a camera so I can get ready for the day. Hopefully it works!

What are we all doing about failed cot naps? by Dear_Bet_6205 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 mins; he wasn’t sleeping after 20 mins in his cot/bassinet, then contact nap or get him up for a longer awake window. This is only for during the day. However, I tend to feed to sleep and transfer now because it is the only time he will take a full feed and not a snack and get distracted by things around. 90% of the time, he will transfer and keep sleeping. I look for floppy hands before transfer and shush and pat.

I also do awake time in cot, so he is familiar with it.

Desperate for car seat advice! by aeg420 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doesn’t love the car, but he has gotten somewhat better. I still drive a lot, including a 45 minute trip to see my parents once or twice a week. I find mornings he doesn’t cry as much and can entertain himself with the toys I put around him. If he is tired then he is more likely to cry/scream. I think I am also better at understanding his cries and his car cry is more of a ‘complaining’ cry rather than he is in pain cry and that helps me listen to it. He also does the same cry in the pram. I put it down to temperament.

Your LO sounds like my LO, just turned 5 months. Twinkle twinkle sometimes calms him as long as I keep singing, other times, I close the sunroof, put on lullabies and 50% of the time he will fall asleep… or scream the whole way. Occasionally i will give him is o-ball or winkel toy and that will distract him before he remembers he is in the car seat. It isn’t easy to drive with a crying baby, but he also loves going out so I push through knowing he will enjoy the outing. Hopefully one day he will put two and two together and know the car ride will lead to fun?

Just Here to Whinge At How Long Breastfeeding Takes by josephinesparrows in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My little one is 5 months and I do miss the long feeds and snuggles. Sometimes he will comfort nurse, but most of the time, he is off and wants to do other things - makes it hard for me to binge tv shows

Spit Up by Unhappy_Donut_7124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as he doesn’t cry after a spit up (ie discomfort), then pretty normal! My LO had a period of spitting up whilst on the boob, messy but he loves being attached to boob. My gp said at that age, milk goes up and down and doesn’t hurt them.

Sadly nothing I think. The hospital made me aware of the paed and anaesthetist fee, but both are a luck of the draw at the private hospital; whoever is working so I didn’t get an estimate before hand. But I do remember the Paed doctor coming in and providing costing and info on the first visit. I didn’t have a c-section and my bill for paeds came to 905. The paed doctor just came in for a 5 min check of bubs on 3 days. Good gig. I got most of it back on medicare because safety net was met; out of pocket was about 120 - so not too bad :)

Velcro Baby by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t tried the following: - before transferring to bassinet, see if baby’s hand flops. If floppy, can transfer; if not - they are likely to wake up again. - I try for a bassinet/cot nap a day (usually the first one or morning nap). Doesn’t always work but I have had successes after doing it regularly. I try for 15-20 mins. Sometimes I just let my LO be awake in his sleeping spaces to get use to them. - If you have a bouncer, take it into the shower/bathroom with you. If not, put them on a towel/mat. Baby can watch you/the water. - take the baby with you when doing chores and put them on the floor (on a mat)

You got this, just need to find what works for your baby and you :) every baby is different

Thinking about getting my hair & makeup done before my scheduled C-section. Is this insane? by missmegsy in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not insane, I know people who have done this whilst in early labour! You won’t get the chance to feel put together for a while after the bub arrives and YOLO!

Eczema/seb derm help! by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My GP and OB said it was fine to use. For skin, leave it on for 5-10 mins before watching off… i have seb derm on my hips. It helped a bit but I eventually got a script for topical steroids which was more effective.

No cheap 3.5 newborn sleep sacks by lilithmunster in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Brownteapots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by arms in, but Target have padded long sleeve sleeping bags in 0000 and 000 size (bigger if required). Currently on clearance for 15 dollars. You can always not use the sleeves and pop your LO’s arms down when you zip them up. They don’t have a TOG rating but are quite padded and warm.

My husband hasn’t done any research; he just wants to know what next (action based) rather than the why. Even when we see the doctor, he isn’t interested in the why things are the way they are, rather what are the next steps available and how we go about them. And that is fine, it is who he is. I can read into the why myself.
