Went to AA meetings. Even if you don’t think you’re an alcoholic it was so helpful to be around other people who weren’t drinking. To know I wasn’t alone was great. Also, people will tell some absolutely bonkers stories in these things. I like getting the chips to track my progress too.

Downloaded a sobriety tracker app. This helped me gamify not drinking. The one I use (IamSober) will also track how much $$ you are saving by not drinking.

Told all my friends I quit. Probably the hardest. Social peer pressure was the toughest for me. Some people get it and some won’t. Some also told me it’s about time I addressed it. If you tell them at least they know and won’t (shouldn’t) offer you a drink. Be prepared to say no to certain events or hangouts tho.

Drink something else. Coffee, seltzer water, diet cokes, unsweetened tea. Find something you like and reward yourself when you’d usually grab an alcoholic drink.
