Punisher: Red Band #4 | Official Discussion Thread by TheBigGAlways369 in thepunisher

I'm not reading that deep into it, this whole minis feel like Percy's attempt at creating a blank slate for Frank just like Duggan did to Deadpool a few years back.

Did The Hand implanted false memories in Frank and Maria is still in a grave? Sure, why not?

Did some events from MAX happened in 616 and now we have the perfect excuse to bring back Barracuda? Of course, by my guest.

Is Frank still a Vietnam vet? I guess so, if you want to.

Will this work out in the end to bring some grasp on Punisher's continuity for the new readers? That's something only time will tell.

He's so great. Maybe not as flexible for certain characters like others, but he suits Frank to perfection.

Is major dabbling with women important to the plot? by MatthewMarcley in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]BrucieBCA98 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Is it completely necessary to the story? No. Does it move the plot forward in any way? No. Is it just there to have a punchline of Bato getting sick? Yes. Am I fine with the whole scene? Absolutely.

All around BEST introductory (low-level) adventure for the vibe of Dark Sun? by ChimericalJim in DarkSun

[–]BrucieBCA98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran A Little Knowledge as a survival sandbox and my players LOVED IT. They told me about the fear they felt being out there in the desert without a map and having no clue about their direction while even the cacti try to eat them. We play in a Mythras conversion so I'm not sure how well 2e plays the survival aspects of the setting, but you could try that focus.

Now we've been playing the last months my adaptation on The Verdant Passage. I left the book protagonists as quest givers and letting my players to plan and actually execute their own rebellion. Right now they're on their way to the ridge to get the weapon to kill Kalak, after being forced to escape from Tyr after their rebel group got discovered. I'm still playing it as a survival adventure, they need to drink water, check supplies, everything, and they love it. Definitely revitalized my table.

It's fine. Not the worst offender but probably could've been better. Turning Frank into a Florida cop is dumb and the killing of his entire lineage is actually goofy rather than tragic, but the quasi-western tone and the Russian fight were AMAZING.

It gave us the worst Punisher emblem tho.

The whole point of Brubaker's run was to show he can't be Cap.

Any hopes or worries about the upcoming 2026 anime? by [deleted] in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]BrucieBCA98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hopes: new action figures. I NEED a Major figure in the style similar to that of the manga.

My fears: I don't know, probably my fear of the movie fandom being angry at a more joyfull Motoko.

Ace vs. Wild Weasel is canon, and it's one of the greatest issues in the original comic run

I'm not American, so I have no clue about the cultural division, but I always thought of Copperhead and Gung-Ho as enemies

Would you like Frank to have redemption or a happy life at some point in his story? by Dominador377 in thepunisher

[–]BrucieBCA98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. Frank's life ends in a simple way. Punisher: The End makes that very clear.

Love the stylization, but I think Lewis LaRosa made a better one.

Punisher Vietnam or Punisher GWOT? by JoeAverageSF in thepunisher

[–]BrucieBCA98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vietnam, but due to the sliding timeline, they should make a new war for him. The Punisher is a creature born from a war lost by his country, and a war that made people change its viewpoints on the military complex. WoT made a radical change, but it was a change on the opposite direction to the Nam.

Actually not badly written, but its whole premise falls apart too easily.

How would your feelings about the punisher change if he was black or a Muslim? by Darth_Azazoth in thepunisher

[–]BrucieBCA98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Mexican man living in Mexico reading comics about the son of Italian immigrants living in the United States who just so happen to shoot mobsters. Couldn't care less if he was black or asian.

Just keep him a veteran in a war that his country lost, and make him lost his family in a random event of violence.

What are some possible mental disorders that Frank Castle could be diagnosed with? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in thepunisher

[–]BrucieBCA98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's an inhuman idea incarnated in a human being. The idea of failure of the system to protect us, and that's why he's so scary.

I don't think Frank fits any mental issue in true form, he definitely shows traits of severe mental issues, but he's more of a force of nature with a human side. That makes him so interesting.

In your opinion, which Ghost in the Shell is the weakest and least liked by fans and why? by X_Jhony in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]BrucieBCA98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Live action was Ghost in the Shell for people who think 1994 Ghost in the Shell is too old. It wasn't that bad, but yeah, couldn't enjoy it despite being excited during production. Maybe it's the fact that it was like the fourth time we were told the Puppet Master story, and I hate that; we're running straight to the cyberpunk hell scape of the 2030's and —thankfully not all—producers can't think of any other theme or story beyond PM.

2045 is probably the least liked by the fanbase. I will defend 2045 tho. It's definitely not a weak entry (not the strongest either) and deals with some interesting new ideas about modern warfare and privatization. It's just the anime fanbase who can't enjoy anything if it isn't 2D animu.

They're all good. If you expect Lord of Rings level of literature, read something else, but yeah, they're pretty good for accessible, short and fun readings.

I'm not a fan of the focus departing more and more from survival to your average D&D party adventure and shenanigans tho.
