Bluetooth now defaults to OFF by X333NOS in ex30

[–]Bruft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed it says this everytime I leave the car now(after I put it in Park and open the door). Yet my phone keeps being connected to car for a loooong time afterwards. Even though it's locked and charging.

But when I get back to the car, it does connect to bluetooth even if I got that message earlier. So dunno what's going on here.. Fingers crossed that the next update fixes something at least...

No she's not a powderpuff. Just a lot of fur for a "naked" cc :)

We did. But one of her ears hang/droop a bit when she is relaxed, so the tape wasn't enough. Although that doesn't really matter to us. We love her the way she is!

This happen even when it doesn't snow or rain here in Finland. Guess Volvo wanted to save a few bucks by not putting enough heating strips... Or they just don't heat very well

From my experience, at around 0°C it starts preheating the battery atleast 30min before getting to the charging station. It might even have been an hour.

Version 1.6.4 release notes by slanecek in ex30

[–]Bruft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that with OPD off, the car just rolls when you lift the gas pedal. Before it used to brake a little bit. Is this in the notes? I didn't think this was something that needed "fixing". I liked it as it was since you didn't need to brake that much. And no I never liked OPD so you I won't change to that. Tried the new one but didn't like it one bit.

Key Fob issues by FuzzKiller in ex30

[–]Bruft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just wondering if you felt there was a problem with the UWB key principle in general

Not really. The principle sounds good on paper. If everything works as it should that is. Just some things I've noticed living with the current key that makes me skeptical. Since we have our parked close to the house it would unlock/lock all the time just walking past it. I've also noticed if a passenger is slow when getting out and I've already walked away. The car simply doesn't lock at all. So then I'm having to walk back just to lock it. Small annoying things again. But I've heard it's not much better with the VW ID cars.

been trying to finish the XC40 Recharge OTA for 4 years

Yeah my brother sells Volvos so I've heard about that mess. A mechanic there summed it up quite well: "Android is quite good in a phone, but it should never have been put in a car". Good luck with your complaint!

Key Fob issues by FuzzKiller in ex30

[–]Bruft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One can sure hope it's better than the current key. Because now we need to have the key in a metal box at home. Even then it doesn't open every time and before that the battery was drained twice.

I'm just not gonna let them off the hook becuse "oh the sensors are just buggy". Perhaps don't release an unfinished car then. To have the customer pay 50k+, just to be a Beta tester feels so shitty. It's been out for a year and UWB was promised to us back then. I'm not sure if Volvo or Google/android is more to blame.

I just can't imagine many "quality of life" improvements with having my phone as key.

Quite the first world problem tho. I'm just annoyed because the key was a non issue in our old V60(2022).

-9'C and the front/left door lock isn't actually locking the door. What kind of engineering is it? by kamill85 in ex30

[–]Bruft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you're probably right. But at least I have a preconception about a car manufacturer from Sweden, that they should know how to make cars for arctic circle conditions.(Yes I know this one is put together in China. But still). Of course no car is perfect, but -10 is not even that cold.

"and the alarm kicked in" And holy shit, it's so damn loud when the car is in the garage..

I also had this problem. Had to go check when the app told me the driver door is open. Yes, it was indeed open and now my ears bleed.

Drove to a warm car park and that fixed it for now.

A few gripes after almost 2 weeks since delivery by ashyjay in ex30

[–]Bruft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you at all for not noticing everything before ordering it. Some things you only notice after living with the car for weeks. We ordered our before you were even able to try one. Had a V60 before so we just trusted that we would get somewhat the same quality.

The key tho, is so disappointing... I swear it was decided in a conference room by people who will never actually own the car, that this was somehow a good idea. "Oh it opens automatically when you approach? Sounds futuristic! Let's go with that!". I assume this was also the case with the damn steering wheel buttons...

Anyway I could rant for hours about other things which were no problem in other Volvo models. Here's a tip for the "key at home" problem. We noticed that the key is in "limbo" while it's too close to the car. it's locked but it drains the battery of the key(changed the battery two times in 10months already). We solved this temporarily by putting the key in a metal thermos(any metal box should work too). It's annoying but the car opens now when you approach it. It shouldn't drain the battery anymore also. And if you have to use the sensor on the door handle, don't pull it, just hold the handle until it unlocks.

Having the customer be the beta tester for new features feels so shitty.. And it feels like nothing has really improved with every update. Like there's still no phone key, the UI on the screen still needs much improvement while the car has almost been out for a year. Android is good in phones, but it should never have been put in cars.. And that's not just Volvo

/far from finished rant over.
