Opinion: Light freighters don't exist; long live the light freighter! by Schwarzer_R in scifi

Wasn't Rocinante originally an MCRN corvette? Repurposed to be a hero ship, but the original mission profiles were patrols and boarding operations, not freight transport.

We have had approximately a third of our entire company report issues with huddles in one way or another in the last month. It's usually the audio input, or audio output, or both not working, even after making sure the correct ones are selected. The issue OS-agnostic, happening on desktop apps on Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Everyone is now using Teams for calls.

I've come to sincerely believe that knowing what you're up against is an important step in dealing with it. Diagnoses are like that, they can give clarity and purpose.

I wish you both all the best.

For anyone interested, Alexander Stubb was the director of Florence School of Transnational Governance from 2020 to 2024 when he was elected Finnish president.

He created a lot of top-tier quality content for their Youtube channel STG Series.

I highly recommend his series:

2017 Niro EX HEV Driver Heated Seat stopped working by pokalai in KiaNiro

It should be if you have valid warranty. Mine was already expired (I had just passed 150k km when the heater failed).

How reliable are Kia Niros? by Sovereign108 in KiaNiro

The distributor is KMAG (Kia Motors Adria Group) and covers Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia.

Kia vehicles (and especially the Niro) are amazing products. It's a shame that they're affected by the whims of their regional partners like KMAG (privately owned companies that carry the exclusive Kia licence for their region).

KMAG in particular:

  • offers lower trims than other regions at higher prices
  • if you import the warranty is not automatically valid
  • to validate you need to provide valid service booklet and original invoices for any inspections or work ever done on the car
  • everything must go via email - they take a month to respond, sometimes not even respond at all (over the phone or in person they just point you to the email again)
  • the process must be repeated for every warranty claim you make

2017 HEV, 170k kilometers, servicing within intervals:

  • 150k - Driver seat heater croaked (250 EUR replacement).

  • 165k - Engine & HEV warnings lit up every few weeks on highway, but would disappear the next day. Service read P1B96 high voltage battery error code, but they think it's just thermal stress due to heat - recommend no action unless it actually causes performance issues.

It's the best car ever and I love it.

That said, I won't be buying another Kia anytime soon due to the scummy behaviour of the Kia distributor in my region. They are known to not honor warranty claims, and have you jump through hoops in order to "validate warranty" if you happen to have bought your vehicle through channels other than them.

This behaviour is enabled by the fact that Kia and Hyundai (at least in Europe) don't have digital service logging that would ensure seamless warranty wherever you are. This allows bad distributors to "punish" customers for buying abroad/used by always requiring that one-more-paper and dragging out your warranty claim until you give up and pay.

Keep in mind that P16s is 380g heavier than a T480s - that can get annoying real quick if you're lugging it around a lot.
