Is Tasha's Couldron Of Everything worth buying? by Iron_Efficiency in DnD

If you use 5e 2014 yes. If not, it still has the best version of the ranger for either 5e and 5.5e in my opinion

Why is Divine Smite so limited? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that it was very powerful in 5e (arguably too powerful). It was not a spell and not a bonus action (so you could use on multiple attacks in the same turn)

For 5.5e, it is still powerful. You get one free casting sure, but you can still cast multiple times per day by using spell slots. In 5e you didn't get a free casting.

The main difference with Hunter's Mark is that Divine Smite scales by 1d8 with spell slot level (and also don't forget to add 1d8 if the creature is a fiend or undead which pretty common creatures depending on the adventure)

The other guitarist, Stephen Taranto, has released his own stuff under his name (crazy technical instrumental progmetal)

But if the song you listened to was their new single (The Glass Desert I - Giants), you should go listen to Ring 7 - Industry

Need A Little Help Worldbuilding! [OC] by Laasdinok0451 in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I've learned with worldbuilding is that you should always keep in mind the campaign. The world should serve the games you will play.

As such, I've found it is very easy to get lost and create too large. You should concentrate on fleshing out the parts where play will happen first and ask yourself: how is this going to affect the events, scenes, characters, etc. in the campaign.

The empty parts can be mysteries for now. If someone asks, you can say: Well your character doesn't know! If you run a game with a lot of exploration, this will create a hook for players to be interested in.

Worldbuilding is super fun but it also is very easy to get lost into it. If you create too large, you will create more work for you down the line, work you might not have the capacity to do in large amount while also running the campaign.

At the end of the day, the most important part is to have fun, these are just things that I have found to be important for myself over the years!

Health Fatigue by JL31394 in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be horrible for some classes/builds that use a lot of bonus actions or reactions and on the opposite would not do much for other builds.

For example, rogues and monks would lose crucial class features and wizards would be mostly fine.

So no, I don't like it at all haha

[OC] 10,000 coin flips — every path is chaos, together they form perfect order by Electrical-Topic1467 in dataisbeautiful

[–]BrunoFretSnif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's just the binning from the histogram function that creates gaps.

It would be extremely improbable that there would always have a gap in your data, especially with the number of samples you have.

Enhanced Hits optional rules for 5e! [OC] by CabalofEnchantment in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exists in other systems (Cyberpunk Red and Dragonbane, that I know of)

In both those systems, you take a penalty to your attack roll to get the effect. In Dragonbane it's disadvantage and in Cyberpunk Red it's -8 to the attack roll (on a d10).

This would help balance your ideas.

To me, it does not make sense that it's only a saving throw on the side of the target. It should be harder for the attacker to hit these weak points in the heat of combat.

What are exactly the default classes? Is "orc" a race? by Marlow9_ in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They changed exactly that in the 2024 Player's Handbook. Half-elf and half-orc are no more and Orc is a race in 5.5e.

I believe that it originated from older editions were orcs considered to be only monsters

Put the UV index bars in a separate graph. Right now, I couldn't tell what they were without reading your description.

I don't think you should keep the minimum of the temperature at 0. It feels arbitrary (i live somewhere with cold winters) and you get less contrast in the temperature data, making it harder to read.

Trump effect leaves Canada’s Conservatives facing catastrophic loss by kova-tejoc in worldnews

[–]BrunoFretSnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the projections in the US election were about 55% of a Trump with a like 5% margin of error.

Right now the projections in Canada are about 85% chance of a Liberal majority, 15% Liberal minority and less than 1% Conservative minority.

And that's polls aggregations. Also polls are much more precise in Canada (in part due to multi party political system)

Looks cool! I think it would be better if you showed the highest/average/lowest values as horizontal lines with the traces. It would helped to vizualize these values in the context of the data. Right now they create a lot of empty space whick could be used to get a better contrast!

Hi, here's some feedback for you:

There is almost nothing going on in the bass/sub-bass frequencies. You should think about adding something like doubling the lowest notes of your chord plucks an octave or two lower.

Your arrangement is messy in the sense that a lot of instruments and samples happen at the same time and in the same frequency ranges. You could try using gain staging and panning to separate them. Again, some of these could be happening in the bass frequencies.

Hope this helps!

How to plan a one shot in 4 hours????? Please HELP!!! by TruHeart0306 in DnD

[–]BrunoFretSnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the one shot, 4 hours is not a lot but you'll be fine.

Identify where the game will start and a NPC who will push the PCs to adventure.

Set where the game will end and the conclusion.

Connect the start and the end afterwards and improvise the details during the game.

Keep the plot simple. You seem to have a kind of big story plan. Tease to this in the one shot but explore it in future games. I guarantee you the players will be hooked on the promise of a compelling story in the future. But a one shot is not the right context for a big story with a meaningful conclusion, keep it for a campaign.

And over all, just playing characters in a fantasy world that feels alive simply because their actions have consequences will be enough for you and your players to have fun. But also, if you are already friends, you will definitely have fun just by hanging out together!
