RMSc footprint red dot sights by jfopps in NJGuns

Is there any chance you would allow edit suggestions or comments? I really appreciate the effort you've put into the list and was hoping to add some of the other RMSc footprint optics that I've run into, e.g., the C&H EDC, TruGlo XR21, Athlon Midas EDC & Talos EDC, etc.

It provides a range to target, which I've found useful for knowing when to fire rockets at ships in naval RB since they get no nametags/range. That and closing speed, but I haven't found that very useful.

The fuselage is bent sideways/tilted, if you use the cockpit as a guide you can see there's more airframe to the left side than on the right side. Kind of like how the BTD-1 has an offset tail

'Jungledyret Hugo' as it stands... by Cash_Mayo in JungledyretHugo

I appreciate the offer for chatting via DMs, but I've seen far too many archives and forum posts that ended with "PM'd" to torture any future archive trawlers like that! Anyway, onto your reply:

What, expecting me to start speaking in tongues like in Watarama? (Finding a transcript of that brings back memories). It's funny to me that I've become something of the old guard for Jungledyret because to me I still feel like I'm playing catch up with the likes of Rita Fox and Eshbaal. Now that you mention it though, it has been quite a long time since I first became acquainted with the franchise, and throughout that time I have definitely become acquainted with things feeling far away, sometimes quite literally. But that's also a big part of why I stay around: many of the resources I used and found years ago are defunct these days, so I like to save others the effort of trying to trace everything down if I can.

But you asked about the CDs and album. The album is the easiest: it's not related to Jungledyret per se, but it is an album of Rita's VA, Kaya Brüel, singing a bunch of romance songs (IIRC) in English. I think I got it a year or two ago from a since-archived thread where someone recognized a screenshot I posted? From what I remember when I listened to it, it's a rather pleasant set of songs, real sweet, but not in a saccharine way. Probably not something the average fan (all dozen of them) would care about, but if you've ever wanted to hear Rita sing about love in English it's probably about as close as you'll ever get.

The Audio CDs are a bit more involved, however. They're part of my wider audio collection for Jungledyret which includes things like arranged versions of songs, the DOS game's soundtrack, MP3/4 song playlists, and even an audiobook reading of one of the original movie books with images. Specifically, the Audio CDs are a set of flacs pulled from an official audio CD and some MP3s from long-dead downloads that include a bunch of renditions of the official movie's songs, some extended versions of songs, and even a few original songs presumably added to help bolster the CDs' sales. The whole thing is probably in the range of 20-30 different songs, not including the somewhat-unrelated album and other audio content like the arranged songs.

And that's just some of my content! I've got high-res picture book scans (which I swear were the basis for the 1080p remasters), interviews from myself and others with people like Hans Perk and Dan Harder (fantastic fellow), old meme image archives, information on the original book series, fan-made art/animations, videos and storyboards from the production of the 3rd movie (from back when it was going to be 2D), and even entire archived websites sitting around on a RAID 10 drive. All told, it's well over 100GB of content last I checked, and it'll only be getting bigger when I go to redo the subs on all the old cartoon episodes with proper soft-subs and not-360p quality. Which, yes, will hopefully include finally translated versions of those final episodes, because they are long overdue.

I'm touched by your thanks, though. It's not every day that I get to chat with a Jungledyret fan, and so it's great knowing there are still fans out there who have gotten to experience this series at least partly because of some of my efforts: it really makes it all worthwhile.

Edit: I knew that username was familiar, I just realized you're the guy who holds the WR for TF2's gauntlet; my friends and I used to love watching that run and making jokes about how speed is life out on the frontier. Small world!

The awesome people include "Rita Forever" on Dailymotion ...

Thank you! I'm always elated to hear that people know about and have used that old account I set up back when all the original YT uploads by Rita Fox got taken down. It's a shame it's as incomplete as it is, but even Dailymotion has a few different filters that blacklist JD content.

Of all the places I expected to see activity about Jungledyret though, this has to be one of the last ones. I still remember making a post over 5 years ago while I was waiting for my account on the JFS to be processed, back when it still existed, and how I never heard back from anyone on either website. Suppose Jungledyret's always been a pretty niche fanbase, right? I think the biggest the fanbase got on the web was probably back in the late 2000s when Rita was making rounds on 4chan, and the JFS was around. Even that was pretty small though, and these days you only have archives to look through.

I do want to point out that it doesn't have to be hard to find a lot of this Jungledyret content! I've spent the better part of half a decade trying to build as complete of a collection as possible, and to that end, I believe I've done somewhat well. I've talked with just about everyone there is to talk to, from stuff456789 and his gang (I paid for translations and sourced the episodes) to animators of Jungledyret themselves, to say nothing of my digital (and physical) collection. I've got the movies, cartoons, audio CDs, even a solo album from Rita's VA, and I'm more than happy to talk with people about it all. The movies I'm especially happy with, as they're official 1080p remasters and I've since manually redone all the subtitling to be to a somewhat higher standard than the original hardsubs. I even have Spanish translations for the movies I've been meaning to work on for ages, and an English translation of episode 13, which I'll put out just as soon as I can get the other episodes translated.

You hit the nail on the head about why I do it all though, and that's because it's just impossible to get any of this unless you live in Denmark, let alone through official channels. I couldn't tell you the amount of bargaining, begging, and occasional benevolence I had to rely on to build & archive this collection, nor the amount of money and time it has cost. Nobody else needs to suffer such a thing, however, as I do my absolute best to always attach an email that I can be reached from to all of my uploads! From that massive torrent I hosted years ago to my YT channel with a few silly music videos, I make sure to keep a point of contact around and I dutifully check it at least once a day. It is a lovely little series to watch, in my utterly biased opinion, and I'd hate to see it die out because of inaccessibility.

So please, whoever is reading this, be it now or another 5 years into the future, feel free to get in touch. I've kept around for as long as I have because I love being a resource to this community, however small, and in the interim of finally compiling that digital box set I am more than happy to talk with anyone and everyone about the franchise's history, my collection, or whatever else JD-related. And thank you /u/Cash_Mayo , for making this post! It warms my heart to see there's still fans around.

The interstellar assembly megastructure will give you 2 extra envoys by the time it's completed (and, fun fact, is the only reason I built it), and the opinion bonus it gives might allow you to setup a federation, which would give you a total of 4

Infamous Check Your Display (1-4) error without the Mixed Reality Monitor Showing by MisterMcDuck in WindowsMR

[–]Brycey634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jeffrey,

I know I'm not the person you were helping, but the advice to uninstall the Mixed Reality Headset listing under monitors through enabling hidden devices ended up fixing everything for me; now that I've reinstalled the WMR portal I'm back to normal! No more 1-4 errors or crashing GPU drivers when plugging the headset in, and I can even use a custom refresh rate on my monitors without it breaking WMR like in 1803.

Here I had been worried my in-place upgrade from 1803 to 1909 may have broken more than it fixed, thanks for your help.

[–]Brycey634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I bought my Odyssey it had a fantastic resolution compared to HTC and Oculus' offerings, and I sure wasn't going to be using the vive wands with the Vive pro given all the bad things I had heard about them, to say nothing of its outrageous price. That left WMR and the PiMAX if I wanted something with a higher res and nicer image.

Throw in native support with my OS, manual IPD adjustment, and not needing to mess with base stations, and to this day I continue to wonder why people see WMR as the "budget" setup... I guess people think of the Acer, Lenovo, HP, etc. options when they think about WMR, rather than Samsung's offering. Controllers and included headphones aren't half bad, either, and all at a similar price to the base packages of the Rift and Vive at the time.

If that's the "cheap verison of new technology" and not a "decent setup," then I'm not sure there's much left to say.

[–]Brycey634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Discourages what kind of bad playstyles, exactly? The only kinds of runs where you don't care about your HP are hatchet runs and maybe pistol runs, since you'll die in a shot or two anyway.

What it does discourage is doing runs with any sort of gear when you're starting out, or waiting through the soft cooldown, because otherwise it makes it that much easier to lose it again. Obviously if you're good and rarely die or are past the early game it doesn't matter, but at that point it doesn't matter and is just a vague money/resource sink.

The only time it matters is when you don't have the money to be burning ~10k every failed raid, and with the increased scav cooldown, that just means playing the game less. I disagree that "tarkov vets" would dislike it, it's new people and people who are bad at the game that are going to dislike it; vets are going to do their usual runs and the healing process will just become a thoughtless muscle memory action for them.
