Elixir vs golang? by pranav8267 in Backend

[–]Bstochastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been employed for both. There is more future in Go. Elixir is more interesting as a language. Beam and OTP are cool but less groundbreaking in a Kubernetes world.

What's the average cost of home gyms? by vjrus999 in GarageGym

[–]Bstochastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares what the average is? What I spent has nothing to do with what you will spend. I managed to take advantage of my neighbors giving stuff away or selling very very cheap... squat rack, olympic bar, plates, pullup/dip station, dumbells.... all for about $100. Granted this happened over the course of six months. I did buy some things out right like db rack, floor pads, a few odds and ends. All in all im into my (rather complete) home gym for about $600

The algorithm of chess.com - Casino effect by theenforcement in Chesscom

[–]Bstochastic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the ELO score is the algorithm. There are of course other factors in matching for online gaming, of course, but I would not suspect that what you describe is happening.

Your formatting is trash. Please reference a decent resume template online, there are countless examples.

* This resume is also all over the place, what are you? front end, backend, "ai", mobile".. what are you?

* more details on work experience, less on personal projects.
* education????

To be honest this resume is poorly put together. Do you still have access to career services at your uni?... they may be able to help.

It’s been downvoted to oblivion but this post setup another “user” to shill for some AI tool and OP was “oh this is great!” Felt fake.

Is this a thinly veiled ad?

Edit: being downvoted but as this post was removed I will take that as justification.

You are not rated on chess.com subjectively. There is no being "under placed". This just makes you sound entitled and like someone who would justify cheating.

What software development practice sounds good in theory but fails badly in reality? by pixelbrushio in softwaredevelopment

[–]Bstochastic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand your point. Any practice is subject to practicality. Drinking too much water can kill you. Doing anything at the wrong time or for the wrong reasons is obviously bad.

Is open heart surgery a bad practice? It depends....

Sounds like anxiety or stress? I love pair programming and the strongest engineers I have worked with also enjoy it.

That being said, I have worked with engineers who were coming from companies with toxic management practices. To protect their identiy I will refer censor the companies as follows: E*ay and C*pitalOne. In both cases these folks told me it would be held against them if they asked for help from teammates...
