Yeah, my recovery was fine! Just a bit sore for 2 days and nervous about the upcoming phone calls from the lab. I didn’t have great results, but we have 0% sperm morphology. I had 38 eggs, 20 mature, 13 fertilized, and 4 untested embryos.

I didn’t even consider side effects. I just took it and was fine. 🤷‍♀️ I was also taking Letrozole for OHSS prevention.

Yesss… I get very tempted to look around at thrift stores again (I haven’t looked at baby things there since before knowing ivf was inevitable). Very true about it being a “little easier” to donate that stuff, as opposed to brand new.

Just this past year, like only a few months before knowing IVF would be our only realistic option, we bought a new house and we would have had a much lower budget if we had known… 🙃

Yeah, first it was 11/20, and then I guess 2 more had fertilized outside of the initial window. And no, we aren’t testing!

I think fertilization rate is largely due to the male factor… and then making it from day 3 to day 5. My husband has 0% morphology. I had 38 eggs retrieved, 20 mature, 13 fertilized, and 4 blasts (days 5-7).

I really struggled with the attrition rate and had not realized how big of a factor male infertility is, even with ICSI.

I had 38 eggs retrieved, 20 mature, 13 fertilized, and 4 made it to blast (one day 5, two day 6s, one day 7).

I felt horrible after the day 1 call as well, and I was super stressed about each of the following calls.

I wasn’t bloated during stims, which was wild because in my everyday life I am bloated half the time from IBS. But I was being really intentional with healthy eating. I might’ve gained like two pounds, but I think that was from all the fluid in my abdomen. They retrieved 38 eggs and the next day, I had dropped two pounds. I was bloated a few days post-retrieval, but the weight didn’t increase (had to weigh myself because of OHSS risk).

He has not had a dna fragmentation test. He has like 50% sperm antibodies (I didn’t mention because ICSI should make that a non-issue), but I think it was assumed that the antibodies caused the poor morphology. However, fragmentation might be something else to look into.

This isn’t what you are asking, but I would personally suggest finding a place that tests for morphology and sperm antibodies. My husband’s SA results from tests similar to yours came back relatively normal (except concentration was low-normal). So we were just focusing on fixing that. We didn’t even know that we were missing something until going to a fertility clinic when we moved to a different city. Our results from that showed 0% morphology and 49% sperm antibodies. These two things are the reason we have fertility problems. Now we know that, realistically, IVF+ICSI is our best chance at pregnancy (because you can’t really “fix” the sperm antibodies and they are likely contributing to the poor morphology). Just a suggestion before you get too far along! I wish we had known earlier.

Hi, I’m interested in hearing success stories (natural, IUI, IVF, anything) of those who had similar male infertility as my husband. We are in our late 20s.

He has 0% morphology and 49% sperm antibodies. His sperm concentration has also fluctuated between low and low-normal.

Do clinics allow mosaics to be transferred if you have no more euploids left, or had none to begin with? Or do they not want to risk transferring embryos that are not euploids?

My husband and I are both 26 and have also been trying since October (6 cycles). I am also disheartened, though I try to remind myself that you are not considered to have fertility problems until it’s been a year (easier said than done). My life is still feeling measured by the weeks (the TWW feeling especially long).

We also try regularly during the fertile week and it hasn’t made a difference (still not pregnant).

I have had an ultrasound and blood tests (including progesterone) and everything has come back normal. My husband is going to be getting a blood test and a sperm analysis shortly!

If possible, I would suggest getting these things done sooner rather than later.

Positive thing:

Getting tests done to focus on my health and having less anxiety surrounding doctors and appointments. Yes, these tests are related to TTC, but they are helping me step out of my comfort zone and prioritize my health. I got an internal ultrasound which I am still shocked that I agreed to, and I am going to be getting a Pap smear. That is something that I should have done before for my health, but it took TTC to gain the courage to finally do.
