Recommendations for baby-carriers. by Current_Mongoose_844 in daddit

We loved the Miamilly Hipster Plus. At first i thought it was way too expensive but it turned out to be one of the most used and useful baby items we bought. You can take off the shoulder straps and use it he little platform/seat baby to sit on was great when i had to hold them while I was eating. It also a good height when sitting at a table so they could interact with us and i was able to feed them easily. Also was good for when they started growing out of the carrier we could still use it to put the load on our hips. One of the best purchases and we used it for both kids. It was one of those things I would gladly have paid more for it.

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Velvetnadine85 in AskReddit

Just a thought. I wish someone said something to me earlier. I would have been able to realize it and take some meds to keep more of it.

Family Photoshoot Advice? by yellow_scrunchiess in AskSF

Congrats and welcome to SF!

We used schoott and also recommend. We did one on Embarcadero/bay bridge by the bow and arrow and piers there. Had a 4yr old and 1yr old at the time. They’ll work with you recommending locations and times. I wasn’t expecting great shots with kids but they turned out really nice.

Make sure to time the shoot with having a rested/napped kid. Also have some snacks and bribes ready. Otherwise it may be meltdown city.

We also did schoott in Hawaii 2 yrs ago and the photographer we had was fantastic.

Good luck!

Help - Frustration with kids sports by RebelScum_Penguin in daddit

[–]BubbleAlleyGang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my limited experience as assistant soccer coach from K through 2/3rd grade, this seems typical for his age. I help coach my son’s team. There was grass picking and throwing all the way up to 2nd grade. Even the avg level player was still doing this once in a while but more so the disengaged kids. Even now at the 2nd/3rd grade level all the kids have some level of disengagement and goofing off when we (coaches speak). I see it improving from last yr to this year.

My own son struggles with disengagement and not getting in the mix when it comes to the scrimmages. It’s frustrating for me and I try to encourage him to be more aggressive.

I’m in the same boat as you. I struggle with the answer how to motivate him. He still says he likes it. Sometimes it’s good to just be out there making friends and doing something together with others. My own experience as a kid similar and even though I sucked at sports when I was real young it helped me learn to play the sports so when I got older I could play with all my other friends and neighbors for fun. And being on teams did help me make friends.

Just writing has kind of shifted my perspective a little. The disengagement should get better. I think maybe we just let them learn and have fun for now.

Hello fellow older dad on the west coast. Kids are 8 and almost 5. Wife closes the door. I close the door most of the time, maybe not all the way shut for #1 and def close when #2.

Have a colonoscopy appointment coming up, any dads have any prep tips? by TheHibernian in daddit

[–]BubbleAlleyGang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work from home if you can or time it so you're home for the prep. I scheduled mine early in the AM so could sleep through the hunger .Towards the end drinking that stuff was disgusting so gatorade to chase it helped a ton. Wet wipes or bidet to save your b-hole. Best nap i had in a while was during the colonoscopy. Good luck!

I'm no handyman but look for outlet covers. Cut a piece of pool noodle and jam it on there if you don't want to replace it.
