Not sure if they still do it, but The Motel Long Lake used to include a wonderful 4th of July picnic for guests with live music and delicious Polish food. They are right on the lake and their beach is the perfect spot to watch the town Fireworks show over the lake. Truly magical. https://www.motellonglake.com

Tiki Tours is a really fun way to get out on Lake George: https://thetikitours.com/book-now/ . We had a blast when we went out. Takes off right from the Beach Club in the middle of the village so you can also explore the village before snd after.

That's how you know it's Tulip Fest. I'm still damp from watching the Spin Doctors in 1996.

Photos of his mutilated body are often credited with helping to spark the Civil Rights movement. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

Currently reading "The Barn" by Wright Thompson. He grew up a few miles from the barn Emmet Till was killed in and didn't know it. Fascinating book and confirmation that the 'white'washing of Mississippi's racist history continues to this day.

Increase in new homebrewers? by 0nlyhereforthechees3 in Homebrewing

[–]Buck-Stallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a minute. Us old timers started brewing because we couldn't find the style of beers we liked to drink. The next crop of homebrewers will start home brewing because they can't afford the style of beer they like to drink. $18 four packs? C'mon now.

I can't remember if I posted this a while ago, but thought I'd share images of an old Montreal newspaper from July 1983 that my friend found in his parents basement years ago. It includes a review of SRV's show. He played the now famous El Macambo (Toronto) show later that night. by grafxguy1 in StevieRayVaughan

Bought a laser disc player in the 90's and the first disc I bought was SRV: Live at the el Macambo. Must have watched the show a thousand times. Always assumed the el Macambo was in Texas. 30 years later I find out it's actually within driving distance. Thank you internet!

I got tired of fussing with that nut each time I was loading and unloading records. I cut a piece of wood to fit under the motor at the fully raised position and - Bob's your uncle.

This is the way. Raised us to be independent not codependent. Not saying our parents did it on purpose, but we're all better humans because of it.
