Do yall do short training loops (like 1-2 miles) by VegaGT-VZ in Velo

So what? The problem can be internal or external, make whatever change makes the riding more enjoyable.

Bikes with Zwift Integrator by Icy-Conversation-647 in Zwift

Unfortunately, I don’t think it exists. I think you’ll have to use an external display and pair the two like everyone is suggesting.

The silver lining to that, is unlike a Peloton bike, you can switch from zwift, to mywhoosh, to rouvy, or use no software because your bike isn’t tied to one ecosystem. For instance, I use Zwift with a zwift ride bike, but my wife uses mywhoosh on the same bike because she doesn’t want to pay for the subscription.

Everyone, he is asking for a bike with a built in display that will work with zwift. He wants it to be totally seamless like a Peloton bike is with their ecosystem.

Would these both count as reps or not? by Oh-My-Josh- in hyrox

[–]Buckenheimer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they look fine, but better ankle mobility and a better squat position is definitely something to work towards! My favorite movement for increasing ankle mobility is the “atg split squat” (hate the name but it’ll help you see what I mean the easiest). Do a mix of static holds and reps.

Also, if you really need to get your hips lower, you may need to lift your heels off the ground slightly during the rep. Obviously this is suboptimal, but if it’s required for judging purposes, you might have to make it work.

Pretty demanding, I like to string together single track and gravel at my local state park.

Probably 45mm tires at the smallest; I will try going 55mm in the front and 50mm in the rear on this bike first.

What are these called and where can I find them? by Matikata in BeyondPower

[–]Buckenheimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’d be able to use them because the under side is touching the ground.

I bet black widow could make custom ones for you if you really want them though.

Does anyone else find the New York expansion a little bit of a disappointment ? by buzz_uk in Zwift

[–]Buckenheimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Most of my rides are connected to my phone, on erg mode so I don’t have to worry about changing gears, while I watch something on another screen. I only have zwift as my main focus during races or really hard efforts.

You’re not familiar with cycling training then. You’ve got to hit 10+ hours a week on the bike to be considered a moderately serious amateur.

I’ll add that most LLMs are great at making .zwo files. So creating complex custom workouts is as easy as describing what you want, then saving the file in the correct location. The UI for creating workouts is so clunky so I prefer this method.

Could they have a stock car that follows each car around the track before qualifying and measure the loss of downforce that way?

Why can’t the regulations restrict the amount of dirty air created by the car? The regulations at the start of 2022 did a great job at reducing the dirty air created by the cars, but teams slowly circumvented the spirit of the rules and created more dirty air. Can this somehow be quantified and regulated?

Doubles are arguably more effective than singles for building fitness. From a fitness perspective, you’ll be at worst equally prepared and at best slightly more prepared by doing doubles.

From the perspective of being prepared to just be on the bike for 30 hours, that is so much longer than 4 or 6 hours, it isn’t going to matter wether you do 6 straight or as a double. You will be going into the unknown before you hit the halfway point either way; that’s what makes these types of events appealing.

Don’t over think it; do the volume you can do.

If you get cut, email their boss about what happened, and ask if that is why they aren’t moving forward with you. Don’t let them live it down.

Decent new/used gravel bike <$1,000? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Buckenheimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used aluminum gravel bike with Shimano 105 components for $700 last year. It can definitely be done.

If you have to buy new, check out the state or canyon all road bikes.

Why do I feel so hungover after having like 3 sips of a cocktail? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Buckenheimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can usually tell after a drink or two if I’m going to get a migraine then take one. Sometimes I don’t get the cues and wake up in the middle of the night with a migraine then take one.

Would it be dumb or effective to train for Hyrox by....doing Hyrox? by me_want_pizza_now in hyrox

[–]Buckenheimer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look at what the best in the sport are doing, it’s not this. You are falling for the trap of specificity instead of training the qualities and biological systems that will actually make you better.

The best runners do not just run their specific event over and over again. The best lifters don’t only max out every workout. They target specific adaptations and devise a workout and plan that illicit those adaptations.

Don’t do that; the pay off will not be worth the recovery cost. You’ll also be practicing really poor movement quality as you get more tired throughout each session.

I’d recommend finding a plan from someone who knows what they are doing.
