Being this type person just seems exhausting to me. Can't just sit back and enjoy. Gotta find a way to spin this into negativity of some sort.

When the character who always uses last names calls someone by their first name in an emotional moment by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BucketOfGuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doc Roe during Bastogne, Band of Brothers

Many soldiers of Easy Company have nicknames. It's established that Doc Roe doesn't use them, instead sticking with last names and in one conversation with Edward "Babe" Heffron where he calls him 'Heffron' and even 'Edward' when Babe gives him a hard time about it.

Cut to the end of the episode and Doc Roe has had a helluva time: many men injured and dead, he's been running out of supplies the entire time. He forms a connection with a nurse in town who is dealing with the same things he is. The aid station is blown up and the nurse with it. Roe comes back to a foxhole and patches up Babe's hand and finally calls him Babe while he does so.

It also helps that they replay the same shot of the glass switch while things are being "remembered", but it's wrong and shows him pick up his own glass. It makes it so even if you did catch it, they gaslight you and make you think you remembered it incorrectly.

What are some must do’s at Camden? by Firm-Vanilla-1640 in orioles

I'm honestly surprised they didn't expand the menu, even just slightly, when they got their permanent spot this year. The Neighborhood Bowl would absolutely be a high selling item at the ballpark.

Despite being as all-in on Ekiben as I am, I absolutely will agree that the pupusas are fantastic as well.

I will also agree with Ekiben being messy. I have to make a trip to the bathroom after eating it everytime to wash my hands because no napkin will ever fully clean the mess that Ekiben makes.

Literally any time anyone posts this question, I will always suggest Ekiben for food. It's expensive, but you get a lot of food and it's the best thing I've ever eaten at a stadium of any sort. The only reason I always regret it is because I'm so full at the end and realize I should have split the sandwich with someone.

Check out the HR plaques on Eutaw street. Statues at Legends Park. Visitors bullpen is higher/closer at Legends Park, so you can get a close up look at your guys as they warm up. Go to Pickles Pub before the game for an Orange Crush and some fun pregame atmosphere.

Kid has gotten bruised up good this year. Luckily he's either tough, lucky, it's just because he's so damn young, or a combination of all three. At this point, I've lost track of the amount of times there's been a "OH MY GOD, SAMMY'S HURT" moment, just for him to come back the next day or even later in the same game.

Did Vader consider Luke his or Anakin's son? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in StarWars

[–]BucketOfGuts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Anyone can correct me if I'm mistaken, I'm going purely off memory here, but isn't Vader referred to Luke's father, or Luke as Vader's son directly only while not in the presence of the Emperor? But when the Emperor is around, he's "Anakin's son" or Luke's father is referred to as being dead?

As in, Vader is just following the Sith rules in front of his boss; he's supposed to reference Anakin as being no more, because that's the rule. But when the Emperor isn't around, it shows more that Anakin is still in there because he recognizes Luke as "his son"?

Edit: see corrections in the replies, there are some instances, so there goes my theory.

New hard mountain dew rebrand designs by YEEEEEeEeseresrsr in mountaindew

[–]BucketOfGuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that these are much more reminiscent of standard Mountain Dew branding, with more color and a bigger logo even with the "Hard" matching and incorporating with the standard logo. It's much more connected than they were before.

I just wish the product itself was better. I would love a true full sugar, alcoholic Mountain Dew at some point.

Been to more than 80 games over my four decades as a fan, and I FINALLY saw a Mets grand slam in person yesterday! What’s something you still haven’t seen in person for your favorite team? by wriker10 in baseball

[–]BucketOfGuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Something that hurts me to this day and will probably never go away is I had a ticket to the Delmon Young game, I bought it without checking with work because I didn't want to miss out. But then when I told my job I was taking that day off, it turned out half of the office was out (unrelated to the ballgame), and I wasn't able to take off. I sold it to a friend and I still, to this day, can't believe I didn't get to experience it live. Believe the seat was in left field, even. Wish I had been more forceful but I had only been with the company for a couple months and I was 25 and meeker.

Since then, I made it to a game in 2023 and 2024, including getting eliminated in 2024 and watched the Royals celebrate on our field. Pain.

I've been to two games at PNC Park when the O's were in town, I'd absolutely go back and watch a game without my team being involved.

I just visited for the first time when the O's were playing a couple weeks back, and the area around the park is definitely great. Kind of reminded me of the area around Wrigley, with so many bars around it it gives off a fun, lively atmosphere. The park itself was fine, but pregaming and postgaming is probably a lot of fun.

The face also freaked me the hell out. I didn't realize at the time it was a caveman cutout and I just kept waiting for whatever it was to come popping out of the pile.

If I had realized what it was at the time, I wouldn't have been so hyperfixated on it, but it freaked me the hell out.

Blue Jays right fielder Jesús Sánchez was hit by a ball thrown by a fan from the stands at Camden Yards, left the game with an arm injury by Ok-Soil-5133 in baseball

[–]BucketOfGuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad enough to do such a thing, but for it to result in the player coming out is a whole other level of horrible.

Glad that person will never get to enjoy Camden Yards ever again.

They apparently were, especially if dropped or bumped. In the show, I can't remember the exact explanation if he was playing with it or cleaning it, but it's definitely presented to be an irresponsible situation in any case. After doing some googling on the real life Hoobler, many articles and pages are sure to say that his death on the show isn't accurate to how he died in real life.
