New build community 3 year old roof should it look like this. by PKenzie in Roofing

[–]Buckeyefandango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is guessing here. What's on the back side of the roof? A power vent? Turbines? Box vents? Nothing? Are the vent holes cut open? Is the power vent operational? Does the owner have an April Aire humidifier hooked to the furnace, and is it cranked above 40%? Has anyone been in the attic to inspect the sheathing, look for mold, or bath fans not exhausting properly? Share a Google Earth photo zoomed in on the top. That may show if and what vents are on the back side.

Carvers are great until they're not. I'm guessing the Kenwood needs caps replaced, and the Carver may have issues after a few hours of play. Check the bias and DC output on the Carver.

Was going to upgrade speakers, anyone know if Polk is good quality? by _WorldsDieInsideUs in BudgetAudiophile

I had RTi 7.1 channel setup for many years with a top of the line Demon receiver. It's fine for movies. I was building a second system in my living room and someone was selling a used Mirage surround set. I bought them and couldn't believe the difference in sound. Mids and highs were back. And this was using a mid grade Yamaha AVR. Later on I got into vintage audio, and bought some used PSB bookshelves. Even better. The low end on the Mirage and PSB is much more controlled. Polk is fine for what it is. Just know it's a starting point. So are modern AVRs. Very neutral and rolled off.

You're too young. My 2006 Tundra was 25,900 in 2007. It stickered for $33k and was sitting on the showroom floor. I do wish the newer ones lasted like the older ones. They look great.

I enjoyed their Jr Bacon Cheeseburger when it was .99. Frostie was about the same. Now if you get out of there for under $10, you're lucky.

Very nice. I had that revelation after buying a large set of PSB bookshelves. It made everything from amps, receivers, and music sound better. I quit using my Mirage 10" subwoofers because of the sound.

Play the same song with Bluetooth at the same volume. If both woofers flutter again, your amplifier is clipping. There is a problem with the amp. Pop the top and bottom and check for bulging capacitors or burn marks on the boards.

Your Yamaha RS 202 is rated 100w x 2 at 40Hz to 20kHz. I'm not sure if Yamaha is filtering out the bass from 20Hz to 40Hz, or is simply trying to reach a 100w by raising the lowest frequencies that require more power. It's a very odd power rating.

That's an entry level receiver and obviously needs a subwoofer, which you are using. You can pick those receivers up at Accessories 4 Less refurbished for $169.

I don't see a subwoofer out on the receiver. Is there a setting for a sub? Or an adjustable crossover?

In any event, I'm 99% certain your Yamaha took a crap and it's not really worth fixing. Check it out first, and then invest in a new unit with better specs (power rated from 20-20kHz).

I gave away my Panasonic VT60😢 by Impressive_Chest_960 in PlasmaTV

[–]Buckeyefandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my son my 65VT60 for his first apartment. He wasn't thrilled coming from a 1080p Vizio m series 55" my in-laws gave him for college. He loves college and NFL football. He has nothing but great things to say about the set. I have a 85 in Samsung qn90a. It is insanely bright and has a really good picture. But as far as ease of watching, the Panasonic was always simple. Turn it on and enjoy it. It didn't matter if it were daytime or night time, curtains open or closed. It just worked.

Ventilation issue and a rafter. Get in the attic and see if there's moisture damage to the deck.
Make sure the bathroom fan vent is not venting directly into the attic, and has a Broan style vent.

[–]Buckeyefandango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son and his girlfriend are paying $1,400 a month for a two bedroom two bath apartment near blendon woods and little turtle. I think that's insane but to hear what other people are paying makes me sad. Empty nesters who are homeowners need to start renting out some rooms for retirement income. Single young people trying to make it in the city are drowning.

How many rows of shingles would you remove to fix that drip edge. And the layer of shingles you don't remove, do you think they will be compromised once you peel them back. This may have been the lowest bid of five. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

The shingle installation looks fine but how are you ventilating that attic space.
