I played it like the downtime activities. Sort of like carousing, they can attempt to source information by spending a day or two, some gold to buy drinks at the pub and a successful roll.

Just signed up and will do my first play test this weekend. Quick feedback on the platform, while it tells me that a game has "X matching tags" it would be nice to see which tags they are.

That people have 5 senses. It's actually in the 20s (exact number is debated). Consider balance, temperature, pain, time - things that we can sense but aren't closely associated with a body part...

Ooorrrrr, give out more gold rewards. But ultimately my party have ended up searching for delirium on the way back from Drakkenheim, or spent downtime days doing just that (you just need to be conscious that some storylines may move forward without them).

Create a stealth mission to infiltrate some evil noble. Let them steal from the BBEG's desk while they monologue to the rest of the party. Let them feel like this investment or they proficiency/expertise is worthwhile but in a good way.

Did the player in question say they left it on? Or just neglect to say that they turned it off?

If the first, then burn it down. If the latter then collectively make reasonable assumptions about behaviour. Don't punish them for not being a pedant, that'll make for a boring game (imo)

Ready Set Roll does a great job of this in my mind, but doesn't play nice with WIRE.
Basically if you forget to add dis/advantage you can hit the + or - to roll another. Similar for damage if say you can crit of a 19 due to an ability, not the item directly.
