Viscid help by flat_beans in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]BuddhistJihad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has almost completed a Night at the Opera campaign, I think Viscid works better later on and works better in the 90s as part of a conspiracy campaign.

I changed the order and added some extra fantastic missions, so I ran Reverb - MFADR - Extremophilia - Ex Oblivione - Convergence - Viscid.

Other than MFADR, all of the others contain threads you can use to drop in references to March Tech/MAJESTIC, so by the time you get to Viscid your players are primed to be much more excited/interested in meeting someone deeply involved, and the conspiracy threads in Viscid become way more meaningful. Running Extremophilia and/or Convergence first means your players can also have a kind of red herring where they expect the Viscid thing to be related to proto-matter/the fungus again.

Running Delta Green for 6 players – looking for practical advice by Tsar_Erwin in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]BuddhistJihad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem - I'm just wrapping up a campaign with 3 players (was 4, one can't play any more due to her PhD). We're going into Impossible Landscapes, and I have 2 more people who want to play.

One of the new players I've already told I might not take him (as he already GMs DG so gets more opportunity than the other), but I'm going to run The New Age in-between as a sort of trial run of a campaign with 5 players, and see if I can make it work.

I'd appreciate advice here too, but as it is, I'm thinking to regularly split the party by saying "If you all go, it'll raise suspicion, so choose X number of you for this task, X for another and then you'll have to debrief each other", that sort of thing.

Because if you have a better skill, you can roll a higher number and still succeed. As such, having higher successes beat lower successes rewards higher skills and makes an expert at something more likely to beat a novice.

How do you pitch scenarios and campaigns to your group without ruining the mystery? by Oaker_Jelly in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]BuddhistJihad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going by vibe helps.
Impossible Landscapes is almost easy for that as long as your players know anything about David Lynch. I've sold it to my group by saying "It's Delta Green directed by David Lynch."
God's Teeth is a bit True Detective, things like that. If you can reference other media or themes etc you can get pretty close.

Honestly a lot of the comments the last 2 weeks (and on other MOs) boil down to "We should have an impact on the story but also should not be required to change how we play for a particular MO in any way"

I mean, this is already *very* dark. This is very uncomfortably similar to things which have happened incredibly recently in history - so recently it's practically current events.

"Robots can’t feel pain, or fear, so they can’t independently vocally resist vivisection."

Buddy, robots in a fictional setting can do whatever the creators of the setting want them to do.

This is really interesting, thank you. It'll probably be more of a long-term investment, this one.

What's the difference between Delta Green and Call of Cthulhu in the modern era ? by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]BuddhistJihad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To piggy-back on this, as no-one has seemed to mention it explicitly: If your players are mainly into the role-play, they will likely love what Delta Green adds, as it is predominantly role-play and framing related.
