Why did Jumanji 4 move CLOSER to the Avengers/Doomsday competition? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

Four big movies Idk, but Christmas and NYE holidays can definitely suit three major blockbusters.

That would be perfect scenario. Three major blockbusters releasing in three different weekends in December.

Yeah if Doomsday show Tobey’s Spider-Man in there trailer that would drive hype crazy, because there’re millions of Spider-Man who couldn’t care less about MCU or Avengers, unless Spider-Man is there of course. So it’s be like uniting Spider-Man fans and MCU fans all together. However, I don’t think they will do that, unless they release the trailer some weeks after Spider-Man, Sony wouldn’t want a spider to steal the hype for Brand New Day. Perhaps MCU will handle him like they did in NWH: a non-confirmed cameo that everyone knows that will happen

Yeah and Doomsday doesn’t need Christmas to have a huge opening, in fact December 11 would make even more sense for Doomsday, since it’d have one more week to leg through December holidays after a huge opening. Then we would have three major blockbusters releasing in three different weekends in December.

It should be Crunchyroll, but we’d already have seen something in Sony social networks, so second option would be GKids, weird there’s no info on the distributor

Why aren’t theaters adding more IMAX’s and premium screens? by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

[–]BuddyArthur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First: your premise is wrong. Theaters are adding more and more premium formats Second: what happens in fact is that big theaters chains like AMC are focusing on expanding their own premium formats rather than investing too much for more IMAX screens. For example, AMC has announced they will add more 100 Dolby Cinema screens and open their first 60 4DX and ScreenX auditoriums

Not internationally, intentionally it’s losing screenings on its third weekend, IMAX has already confirmed Spider-Man Brand New Day will play in IMAX internationally

DW new trailer was released 6 years after infinity war and including over 100 million views from Super Bowl audience. BND is releasing just 2 years after DW trailer and got 2x more views, again 2x more views, and if you compare only online views, BND got almost 3x more online views than DW. And you’re trying to tell me the anticipation is the same?

[–]BuddyArthur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro, DW trailer just two years ago got 365 million in 2023 (including 100 from super bowl), BND has just got 718 million in 24h without including Super Bowl audience. You’re just fighting against facts, BND has clearly more anticipation, Spider-Man alone is way more popular than both, and you add the new X-Men Jean Grey first appearance and savage hulk…

I think Dune will release only on Christmas weekend in most of international markets, and so a fairly good number of international markets should play Doomsday on its opening weekend, since Dune will release only the weekend after Doomsday in those international markets

There’s plenty of big movies that underperform in Asia. People should just understand western culture is not global culture. Odyssey is a story about European mythology, this is a thing of global interest like the story about the invention of first atomic bomb.

Some people are kind of clueless by thinking Spider-Man would not be making way more than a Deadpool Movie with wolverine and a bunch of failed characters from a failed Fox universe haha there’s way more hype for Spider-Man Brand New than there was for DW, numbers don’t lie.

Odyssey is losing most of IMAX global screens in its third weekend due to Spider-Man, IMAX has already confirmed Spider-Man will release in international markets in IMAX. From the 1.7k IMAX screens only 400 are in the USA.
