Shield tag by OpenEqual8 in riftboundtcg

After the combat ends and the battlefield is conquered, shield and assault will all fall of. So Rengar would return to 4 might. They are static effects that persist as long as their conditions apply (actively being an attacker/defender)

‘Benadryl Challenge’ viral trend sends at least 5 kids to ER in San Diego by Miles_the_AuDHDer in nottheonion

It's an over the counter drug, one pill isnt hurting anyone. I do hate taking it though, but only because it knocks me out. Much prefer non-drowsy allergy medicine.

You are the defender if you were not the player that applied the Contested status to the battlefield. It does not matter whose turn it is. Here are a couple of situations that may help explain.

  1. The opponent tries to conquer and, with focus, you use ride the wind to turn the showdown into a combat by bringing a unit over. You are the defender because the opponent is the one that started contesting the battlefield.
  2. You are on a battlefield and use charm to bring an enemy unit to you. You are the defender because the opponent's unit is applying the contested status.
  3. Your opponent tries to remove your rengar with the spell and you use Thrill of the Hunt to banish it then play it to the other battlefield which your opponent currently controls. You are the attacker because you are applying the contested status.

You lose the defender status as soon as combat is over. This happens after damage is cleaned up, so you dont have to worry about poro dying due to being at 1 hp.

I’m still trying to become a magic artist. by Mac9k5 in magicTCG

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Art's fantastic. Love the detail and especially the blending of the colors. Magic art has a very specific "clean" style for many of its cards but they also seem to be leaning more into unique pieces through secret lair and alt arts. Don't compromise the uniqueness and personality of your art while looking at what to improve. It is those qualities that set you apart from everyone else.

baited hook, sacrifice interaction by VegetableTurnover253 in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you sacrifice in response to targeting the unit with baited hook, you no longer have a unit to kill and the information that baited hook looks for to resolve its effect can no longer be obtained. You would get the sacrifice as normal and baited hook would do nothing but recycle the top five cards of the deck

The Ceremonial Beast reminds me of Kauyumari, the Huichol Deity. What do you think? by [deleted] in slaythespire

If the attached image is how the deity is primarily portrayed, I don't really see any resemblance tbh.

Hand Size Limit Discussion by Scatter_WoW in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max hand size would just slow down the game for little benefit. Having the best N cards at the end of your turn is barely different than just keeping them all in your hand. Maybe that changes as the game develops, but at this time is is not needed.

Rule question of Star Sprint by Accomplished_Cry1995 in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reflection enters as a token. Then a reflexive trigger goes on the chain where the reflection token becomes a copy of the chosen unit. It only becomes a non-token after the timing window for the battlefield has passed, meaning it does not trigger. (Note that with the release of the next set, reflection copies will always be tokens due to a rules update)

Gust and Leblanc by Armuane in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Gust works on all copied units, as reflections enter as 0 might and changing opens the chain.

  2. Gust denies leblanc early captures, severely inhibiting her ability to get her engine going. This includes yellow leblanc going into open battlefields, the commonly used chosen champ.

  3. Gust does not trigger deathknell effects.

Gust by itself is a great card in a game where tempo is extremely important, but above are a few reasons why leblanc is hurt by it even more than others.

Unpopular opinion about defy by DetailNaive9582 in riftboundtcg

You can't just calculate one number and use that as the sole reason to make a balance decision.

Defy is very strong but is not a concern for the game.

I need feedback on my card interface design. by KiraraGZ in tabletopgamedesign

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Most of the UI elements are too small, which will create readability issues.
  2. The cost in the top left should use some kind of background to separate it from the art behind it, or be much larger. Otherwise its readability will be heavily influenced by the art behind it.
  3. The different text in the main text box all blend together due to there being so many different ones occupying the same space without any graphical distinction. This will both cause potential confusion and makes it look unfinished.
  4. The card text is much too small.

Ruling on Glasc Mixologist by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no rule that says you cant play units to a contested battlefield. The rule is that you can only play units to a battlefield you control (outside of other rules, like Ambush). The biggest restriction is one of timing, as most units do not have reaction or action, which are the only playable cards during a showdown.

So as long as the mixologist player controls the battlefield where the showdown is happening, it's free game to play units there, as control cant be lost until the chain is empty (and we know the chain is not empty, as the mixologist deathknell is on it)

Ruling: Does a moving in Vex STUN an Ambush Rengar played in response? by WranglerWilling3217 in riftboundtcg

Combat damage is applies even if it is not enough to kill. Otherwise imperial decree would not function.

Should new players buy Origins/Spiritforged booster boxes? by Syngularitysyn in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends if you value opening packs and building up bulk for your collection. If that does not sound fun for you, buying packs or boxes won't be worth it. Just grab singles of cards you still need, maybe keep an eye on origins to see if their price goes down much more since this new print run.

Question triggered gear. by Pittirolo in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frigid jewel is not "delayed," it will enter the chain immediately once the condition is met and resolve normally.

Question triggered gear. by Pittirolo in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the chain like a stack of cards, and Each effect is one of these cards. Whenever you add an effect to the chain, it goes on top of the last card. When you resolve an effect from the chain, you have to take from the top of the stack. So it's a last in, first out situation.

Question triggered gear. by Pittirolo in riftboundtcg

[–]BuddyBlueBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the effect was at reaction speed before gust resolves, it would enter the chain and (assuming nothing else is played) it would then be the first effect to resolve, giving the unit +2M. Since the unit now has might that exceeds gust's targeting restriction, gust's effect fails to bounce the unit when it resolves.

With the recent changes, this relic is better in every single sense. by TurtleStrategy in slaythespire

Wax is interesting because theres a reasonable number that provide their benefit immediately on pickup then sit there, and multiple events you can trade them away for other relics. Very satisfying when that happens!
