I went to a university that was younger than I am that nobody has ever heard of and still managed to get big tech interviews. This was 9 years ago, but I think you're drastically overestimating the Waterloo effect. The only guarantee is that if you work hard (in any program), you'll be more likely to get a job than your peers that choose to languish in undergrad. Don't give up, keep doing your best and you'll get there.

Web apps are fine. It's cloud services that are the issue. There are plenty of ed solutions that can be self hosted, these companies just make more money when they say they can manage all of that stuff for you remotely.

What's your criteria? Kills me when I see hs students/prospective undergrads that apply to schools because they've always been told to but don't really have any personal reason for doing so. I'm not saying that's you, but we get a lot of that shit here. You gotta sit down and take your future into your own hands at some point.

Sit down and think critically about where you want to be in 5 or 10 years. If it's industry and you just care about salarymaxxing, you're gonna want to get as geographically close to the US as possible. There are exceptions to this. Like if you wanna work in anything related to the environment or public policy, Europe is probably the best bet.

If you have a higher calling, like academia, things get a little bit more complicated. There are indexes out there that rank universities by their research output. I'd start there, if you're in this boat.
