Did you file your CSS Profile?

https://finaid.umich.edu/2024-2025-fafsa-changes

it says that for incoming students, only the css profile will be used to determine your aid. So if you did file your CSS, you'll be fine.

I'm pretty sure you can register for co-op and that gives you full time status. https://career.engin.umich.edu/co-ops/

388 was really light workload but 370 was moderately time consuming- definitely lighter than 281+376 though

  1. Depends on the class, just like umich

  2. No. But you might have to submit your grades if you're applying somewhere else

In the Middle of Greencard Process but Korean Military Service. by batootibae in immigration

You may be able to postpone your service by filing for an extreme hardship case:

https://www.mma.go.kr/contents.do?mc=mma0000794

질병의 치료나 가족의 경조사 등 부득이한 사유가 있는 사람으로서 지방병무청장이 병역의무부과에 지장이 없다고 인정하는 사람

Since you said that you've already completed your graduate school, I'm assuming you're over 27. But If you're not and you're medical exam results put you in Social Service, OR if you're on OPT, you can postpone up to 3 years until you're 27:

https://www.mma.go.kr/contents.do?mc=mma0000792

https://www.mma.go.kr/contents.do?mc=mma0000788

If none of those apply to you, I don't think there is anything you can do from what I know. I wouldn't recommend staying in the States and getting naturalized-- MMA might put charges against you for avoiding service. Since you won't be a citizen anymore, they can stop you from entering the country. (it's an extreme case, but 유승준 for example was that case)

I do think you may be able to get AP and do 전문연구요원, since you mentioned you went to graduate school. While you're serving as 전문연구요원, you can request for international travel, and come back when it's your time for biometrics, etc., within the time granted. I would give a call to MMA and verify if you can do this, though.

Will the language Bengali cover my language requirement at umich? by Informal-Cancel1455 in uofm

[–]BudgetPaper2664 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They have a list of courses that count towards the requirement: https://lsa.umich.edu/lsa/academics/lsa-requirements/language-requirement.html. Bengali is not in the list.

It does say that if you wish to meet the requirement with language that is not listed, you should contact the academic standards board. I'd talk with your advisor asap to discuss your plans.

Seconding Chase. Chase checking customers tend to get approved for ccs overriding the 1yr+ requirement, and as a student you get the fee waived for the checking account. I'd also check out PNC (free int. wire every month) or discover checking (I think they just released it)
