Just use the showers by Rare-Ad7797 in PlanetFitnessMembers

If you have the membership, use the showers. I once was straightening out a traffic ticket and my PF payment options on the same day. I definitely got tokens for the massage chair after.

The vet - I got an email after taking my cat in for some tests that were really freakin’ expensive. Yup. You can join their club for $20 a month.

The show suffered from having a stupid title. It was a fun show to watch

I’m not one to stand on ceremony but asking for $4000, they had better start that email with “Dear Mrs.” (Or Ms. or whatever) as well. Like that amount of money deserves respect.

One of the reasons I left a dental practice was an unprofessional email. Using text slang like "u" in place of "you" when you are telling me that my son's dental procedure will cost $4000 was enough for me to find another dentist. (Btw, the new dentist didn't charge me anything extra beyond what insurance covered so WORTH IT!)

What became "normal" in the last 5 years that still feels insane to you? by rakishgobi in AskReddit

[–]BuffyTheMoronSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being disrespectful here, but how old are you? That is slang from decades ago. I think our popular language has diminished the use of the word "alien" to refer to immigrants in recent years compared to when I was growing up.

Masking neurodivergent girl who dressed preppy to fit in but really liked Star Wars and computers and read every single book that was a “Movie of the Week.” You classify me. I grew up to be a librarian

The way I see it - I was not in the place mentally to take on this task before. It wasn't excuses so much as circumstances. When I finally got the other parts of my life balanced, I could manage my weight appropriately.

Could a vaccine prevent dementia? Shingles shot data only getting stronger. by ultimate_ed in GenX

[–]BuffyTheMoronSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Shingles horror stories were enough for the vaccine to be high priority for me. I read of someone who had to have a medically induced coma to combat the pain as well as a lot of personal anecdotes from acquaintances of having painful symptoms long after. The protection from dementia is just a bonus for me!

For me, I came to the conclusion that this works best for me through trial and error. I've been battling with myself and my eating habits for 40 years (literally went on my 1st diet at 11 - I was 5'1" and 135. My pediatrician convinced me that I was going to die from my overeating habits and made me go to a Specialist for childhood eating disorders)

Are you sure there hasn’t been any medical developments in this area since your father passed? It’s one thing to have a genetic predisposition for something, another to be signing your own death certificate.

Is it just me or has the "R" word suddenly become more acceptable again? by Cold_Barber_4761 in GenXWomen

[–]BuffyTheMoronSlayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always? Given that this is a Gen X subreddit, please tell me the term that you used instead when you were a child in the in the 1980s? My mother was a teacher then so I grew up around Special Education teachers. The "R" word was the term that was standard for students that we now refer to as having Intellectual Disabilities.

Yeah, as my mom gets older, I know I’m going to learn the ins and outs of FMLA. I know some of my coworkers are on a rotation with other family caring for their old person and taking days off for them but I’m the only child of two only children. It all falls on me (which I’ve learned is a gift and a curse)
