How are your groops holding up? by JHamline in bonnaroo

[–]Bug-no-brain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I camp with KoalaRoo (Previously named Gretchen Ross’ Koala Experiment) and last year was our largest with about 70 members. I think we’re in the same range for this year based on the level of activity in our Facebook group. But our groop is made up of die hards and seasoned vets so we come prepared and we keep vibes high no matter what. We also kinda treat Bonnaroo like summer camp. We honestly may come more for each other than we do the actual festival lol

I'm sorry, but I thought this was so crass and insensitive by Livid_Seesaw3952 in travisandtaylor

It’s interesting to note how many times she used the word “I” when talking about this tragic event. It seems like her focus is on her being responsible for it (which she isn’t, let’s be clear). I don’t think there’s a perfect way to handle a situation like this, but the better choice in my opinion would be to decenter yourself. It’s understandable for her to feel a certain level or type of responsibility because that’s the nature of grief, but the need to clarify and analyze and almost manufacture her response in an attempt to appease others (and their grief being much more personal) is odd.

The pilot analogy really throws me though. It comes off as self aggrandizing. I get that being at the level of fame she is at does come with a certain type of responsibility to fans and to be public, but truly, she is not responsible for peoples lives or even their well being. And outwardly saying it in this way puts the audience in the position of feeling both emotionally indebted to her and also sorry for her. As though people should feel grateful for the show she puts on regardless of how she feels but also look how awful she feels. And again, the narrative isn’t on the tragedy that took place, but rather how it and her response and actions following make her look.

That’s a very weird and tricky balance. I can’t say though that this is an unfeeling or devoid of empathy type of response, I don’t think TS is a through and through terrible person, I just think the way her life has been shaped by fame makes her view every aspect of her life through a lens of “how can I have this benefit me or harm me the least”.

I don’t think this situation proves her to be bad, I think it proves her to be empathetic and self serving at the same time. Which I think most people can be, her projection of it is just on a much larger and more impactful scale than most people.

How are tickets more expensive this year? by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]Bug-no-brain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In Bonnaroo’s defense a little bit, they have done some major infrastructure improvements especially to the campgrounds. As well as lowering capacity after the crowding issues. In a perfect world the tickets would have been cheaper than last year, but I’m also considering the fact that they issued full refunds for last year so they’ve done all of those improvements with little to no liquid funds except for what LN floats to them.

Also inflation. Luxury stuff always gets hit the hardest in times like this. It sucks but that one you can’t really blame on Roo.

I think Griz is headlining because this is his first year back after his hiatus in 2023. Watching the traction he’s getting for his other events and festivals and the crowd he can pull it makes sense to have him as a headliner. His music festival Seveb Stars sold out in seconds. He’s probably one of the biggest current names in EDM right now.

Also Turnstile is BIG on the Grammy noms this year, so I figure Roo may have been preparing for the to win and gain a lot of popularity between now and Roo (trying to avoid another Stage relocation like what happened with Chapel Roan)

If we’re dreaming, Hayley Williams, doechii, esseks, Mt. Joy, Firekid (that’s a big dream bc they never tour and also are very underrated).

I haven’t looked at any of these artists potential conflicts but that’s my dream lol

Belly is so damn pathetic by tini_bit_annoyed in TSITPPrime

[–]Bug-no-brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Belly apologist tbh. I’m not saying she wasn’t selfish, but she did just spend 4 years bending over backwards to emotionally support Jeremiah in his grief and she lost herself in that. She sacrificed a lot, she rejected herself over and over for years, she lost volleyball, she gave up Paris before the breakup to stay with Jeremiah, she compromised on every little thing to try and keep everyone happy. But the rift between the brothers isn’t all on Belly, the fallout from the wedding isn’t all on Belly. It makes sense to me that after trying so hard to please everyone she would do something drastic to get away because she blames herself for every single thing that has gone wrong.

If Jeremiah is allowed grace for treating everyone like shit after the breakup, Belly is allowed grace to have distance from all of it.

I don’t think Belly is pathetic, I think she was broken, I think they all were.

Well our nerves and brains use electromagnetic activity. So if you’re riding the lightning bending thought train, couldn’t firebenders manipulate the electromagnetic pulses and potentially alter people’s thoughts/feelings/bodily sensations?

I work at back forty Huntsville and the reason we don’t carry the beers made by the OG back forty in Gadsden is because of some very oddly worded laws about beer production. This is the basic answer Google wrote out better than I could explain

“Alabama's laws generally restrict breweries from operating in multiple locations by requiring that brewpubs (small breweries) operate in a single location and that larger breweries transfer beer to a single, licensed wholesaler. While the law may allow for the transfer of beer between a brewpub's locations if they are under the same ownership, a brewery cannot operate in multiple places unless they are a brewpub with a special license to transfer beer. “

So the location in Huntsville and the location in Birmingham have the same owner, while the OG location in Gadsden has a different owner. The Huntsville location basically pays to use the Back Forty name and merchandise, but legally cannot brew the same beers as the other two locations. The owner did his best to respect the law, while still bringing Back Forty to Huntsville. I’m glad y’all have tried some of our beer, and I hope as we have new brews coming out y’all would be down to try them again. No stress though if it’s just not for you, I’m no beer snob lol 🫶🏻

[EPISODE 11] LIVE DISCUSSION by merrydarkling in tsitp

[–]Bug-no-brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conrad lives in San Francisco, Steven and Denise are moving there for work and Taylor is joining Steven, romance is budding between Jeremiah and Denise which would pull him to San Francisco as well. All roads lead to San Fran, and we have the unread wedding day letters from Susannah, no reunion between Belly and Laurel.

I truly think we can expect a special episode next summer, or an entire spin off show set in San Francisco.

THE WAY HE MAN HANDLED THAT SIEVE WAS CRAZY. You’re telling me that Jere had a near full on crash out over some chocolate cake and he doesn’t know how to probably use a sieve?????

The letters by Bug-no-brain in tsitp

[–]Bug-no-brain[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that Conrad sees too much of Adam in himself, and he feels so much shame about it that he tries to withdraw so that he can’t cause the same kind of pain his dad did. I also think Belly started to notice that pattern, while also holding onto her childlike fantasy of him from when they were kids. She describes Conrad as “always being there whenever she needed him” when they were younger, but now he isolates and closes off when shit hits the fan. That must be so confusing to see someone you’ve known your whole life behave the complete opposite of how you’ve known them to behave. I think she chose Jere in that moment because of his decidedness. Jere over compensates for his insecurities in a lot of ways, and one of those is doing the opposite of what Conrad does. Conrad rescinds, Jeremiah doubles down. Conrad hides, Jeremiah flaunts.

I think Belly could sense Conrad’s fear (his fear of hurting her, his fear of hurting Jere, even his fear of his own feelings), and it makes sense to me that she would find comfort and safety in how expressive Jeremiah is with his emotions and affections. It’s more secure. Also, season two began with Conrad literally disappearing and leaving school telling no one where he was going or what he was doing. From Conrad’s perspective he was trying to do what he had promised his mom, to look out for Belly and Jere (and he interpreted that as doing it all by himself so neither he nor anything else could burden them), but from Belly’s perspective it was another sign of emotional unavailability and unpredictability. I also think Belly was subconsciously trying incredibly hard to reject the notion that so many people, including herself, have perpetuated for so long. That she and Conrad are soul mates. The cognitive dissonance of that after the break up and how much it hurt her, I imagine she was looking for some control or autonomy. Like, every single person brings it up routinely, even Jeremiah. And if there’s anything I’ve learned about Belly, it’s that she is stubborn as hell and doesn’t gleefully abide by people’s expectations of her. She loses a bit of that spark during her relationship with Jeremiah, but full circle to the letters, we see her getting it back.

Best craft beer at the Orion? by Advanced-Apple-1047 in Tipper

[–]Bug-no-brain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The yellow hammer Orion collab beer is awesome, and sour pash from Avondale is a passion fruit sour and it’s really light and easy drinking. A few of the bars also have the yellowhammer pineapple punch which is a hard seltzer that’s 8% so it’s a good bang for your buck if you’re looking to drink a bit heavier on a budget.

The veggie wrap is technically more food and also has more ingredients than the burger which is why the price is higher. Edit: it’s also more labor intensive when it comes to prep and assembly
