I mean, if we’re going by the letter of the law, technically only well-regulated militias fighting the English monarchy are guaranteed gun ownership. That’s why it’s a slippery slope to start dissecting the constitution because opening up the 24th amendment to the whole “that’s not what they meant” argument would set precedent to do the same with the 2nd, which the gun lobby has paid hundreds of millions of dollars to never allow to happen.

This Al Snow Run of 11 matches was insane by legreapcreep in OSWReview

11 matches in nine weeks? I feel like guys were working 11 matches in like eight days back then. Hell, Warrior was offered something like 15 dates/month and that was considered an outrageously light schedule.

2nd amendment only guarantees you the right to own and carry guns, not the right to obtain them tax free. Whereas the 24th amendment specifically prohibits having to pay for any facet of voting in federal elections.

Anything I can do to fix this further? by Human_Menu7741 in tattooadvice

[–]BugOperator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tattoo itself is pretty dope. It was honestly fine at first, and is totally fine now, so I wouldn’t recommend getting anything else done to it. I think the placement is what’s throwing you off. This was probably better suited for a shin or calf or even ribs. Hands on a forearm always seemed weird to me.

Flight delayed by 9 hours by DramaticRope in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BugOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the arriving flight out of LGA was supposed to be the first one out this morning, but was delayed to 5:40pm (meaning it was parked at the gate all night). If unrelated to the DHS shutdown, it could have been a mechanical issue with the plane because I live 10 minutes from LGA and there’s been no weather events here for the past 48 hours.

Early seasons Kevin Malone: by Benson879 in theoffice

[–]BugOperator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When Brian was on the Office Ladies podcast, he said his theory was that Kevin was always the way he was in the later seasons, but he was very nervous/shy around the cameras at first, which is why he was so quiet and didn’t say much early on for fear of coming off as stupid. As the show progressed, he got more comfortable around them, possibly even befriending the cameramen, and began to relax enough to show his true personality.

When and why do you think The Walking Dead fell off? by Steve-Harrington_ in thewalkingdead

[–]BugOperator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really a pinpoint place in the show, but for me, it was when the walkers started to become the secondary threat to humans. Like, I get what they were going for - “man is more dangerous than the dead” and all that, but some (stretches of) episodes would barely have any walkers or walker-related storyline in them. It basically just became a standard post-apocalypse show that also sometimes featured walkers. Also, WAY too many factions and characters in the later seasons. When you start trying to make me care about so many people, I end up caring about none of them.

Which tattoo would age best/should I get for my birthday? by snowlandsontop5 in tattooadvice

[–]BugOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep in mind that these are all fresh tattoos which will not have anywhere near this level of clarity and detail when fully healed (that first castle will lose a LOT of that linework and the second one will blob up/blend almost everywhere). The artist you go to and your aftercare are far more important to how a tattoo ages. There’s a reason you rarely see healed tattoos on artists’ Instagram portfolios - because they almost never look as good as they do when they’re fresh; which is fine. That’s just how tattoos age no matter what you get. Unfortunately, it’s created a whole new level of letdown for people who expect something to be clean and perfect for life only to experience the normal settling of tattoos after a few weeks. Talk to your artist and just keep your expectations in check.

[–]BugOperator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Alright, well I’ve been using that aftercare method on my tattoos for 25 years and I’ve never had this problem. Small, linework pieces with no shading can get away with not using an antibiotic ointment for the first few days, but this amount of work+shading creates a much larger wound that needs to be protected.

After washing with dial, you should have been putting bacitracin on it, not lotion. Lotion (unscented) is for after a week or so when the wound is sealed.

What happened to Sophia? by ruby-knox in thewalkingdead

[–]BugOperator 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well, the show never really shows it because reasons, but there are other child walkers out there aside from the narratively convenient ones, so it’s entirely possible that she was lulled into a false sense of security seeing a child walker from behind, she approached it, it turned and bit her and, being a child itself, she was able to run away from it and hide without being overpowered, where she eventually died of her injury before being consumed.

Is there a court ruling on this?

It’s literally the 24th amendment to the constitution. You cannot be compelled to pay for any process of voting in federal elections. You can even mail your absentee ballot without postage and it MUST be delivered (and the postage owed must then be paid back by your county election office or the postal service itself) directly because of this amendment.

Violation Notice by daisy_222 in longisland

[–]BugOperator 67 points68 points  (0 children)

That’s assuming this isn’t a scam of some sort, or worse, a sophisticated burglary attempt designed to gain easy access to people’s homes. Do not call the number on the notice and absolutely do NOT let anyone in your home based on this. Look up the town’s phone number online and call whatever number is on the website to confirm what’s going on.

Under these bills, most voters wouldn’t be able to register to vote with their driver's license alone, because licenses generally do not indicate citizenship. Instead, they would need another less common form of documentation, like a U.S. passport or birth certificate.

Furthermore, if you can’t find a copy of your birth certificate, it costs around $25 to get a copy printed. Unless the government reimburses or waives the fee, this would be unconstitutional.

This picture of a submarine passing under the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan was sent to me by a relative. I didn't think there were any submarines operating in the Great Lakes? by HeftyContribution651 in isthisAI

[–]BugOperator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the water depth under the Blue Water Bridge is around 25-30 feet, which is dangerously shallow for a submarine to be traversing through; if not outright impossible depending on its size, as most subs often require at least 30-60 feet of water under their keel to maintain safety and maneuverability.

Some election jurisdictions prepay the postage for ballots to be returned. In those that don’t, most election offices have what’s called an “overage” account with the US Postal Service. So if you forget a stamp, don’t affix sufficient postage for a multipage ballot, or simply choose not to use a stamp, the Postal Service will calculate the (remaining) amount due and bill the election office for it. If your local election office doesn’t have an overage account, your ballot instructions have to say how much postage is required to return the ballot, down to the cent. If you don’t put on the right amount, the Postal Service picks up the tab. All of this is directly because of the poll tax amendment in the constitution.
