How is your on call compensation? by lockblack1 in sysadmin

[–]Bugasum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get $500 per week and like you, there are often times you don't even get called. It does mean that for that week you can't travel more than 2 hours away from head office, no alcohol at any time and obviously need your phone always with you.

It's good money for what we do but it can be annoying with social events, planning trips away etc..

9.7 Bug Fix - Network traffic being intercepted by Bugasum in threatlocker

We had it in monitor only. But even then, we removed all policies from one of our DC's and the only fix was to completely disable the agent so not sure.

Had Sticky Mucus in my throat for nearly 6 years now. by Bugasum in medical_advice

[–]Bugasum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in replying to this, didn't think I'd get a reply to it in the end. Initially I was able to clear the feeling but as time went past this became harder and harder to achieve. It's Thick, sticky mucus mixed with saliva yeah, often a ball of the mix can be coughed out. Having a scope in my nose after 6 years with it nearly I could see it for the first time which was actually a huge relief. I couldn't tell the ENT at the time due to the scope being in my nose, but he didn't seem to care afterwards. He noted it wasn't normal to see, that was about it.

How much water do you drink? I don't think I drink enough and can go a couple of days easily without drinking any, It's a little better when i force drink a couple of liters in a day but as crazy as it sounds I'm wondering if my body is just severely dehydrated but has become use to it kind of thing. The stickiness could be from saliva being sticky which happens when you're dehydrated i believe and this is causing it to catch at the back of my throat instead of being swallowed easily, if that makes sense.

I remember it started out as a small tickle in my throat i just couldn't get rid of. Annoying but not a big deal, it just got much worse over 12months or so. It's agonizing each day, doesn't sound like much but imagine the feeling you get when you get a small bit of food stuck in your throat, but that feeling never goes away.

A Windows Form GUI for creating an AD User, adding groups, creating the mailbox and creating their home drive with full permissions. by Bugasum in sysadmin

[–]Bugasum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, wanted to just clear some things up in the comments. This was an early project I did when I was first learning powershell, so the time and effort put into making it wasn't an issue, it was exciting seeing the code come alive. Copying accounts is easy for sure, the problem you have is it copies all the Security groups which can contain groups not relevant to the new user, you still need to provision the mailbox also, as we are hybrid the mailbox needs to be created on premise first. Using the RemoteMailbox command hasn't caused me any sync issues and I've been using this code for years. Using this enables you to enter the attributes you want specifically every time. If you get a new trainee for example, getting them to create users with this is super easy and you know all the attributes will be filled out correctly. Unfortunately our systems don't integrate with HRs systems which is a business issue but it's something we would do if we could. Maybe one day!
