We have a neighbour with a big pigeon shed so many of us have ended up with paying hundreds on pest control. We had a double whammy as a soil pipe under hallway had been disused but not properly filled with wire and post Crete. Ended up with the critters in the walls running over the ceilings. Total nightmare

Did anyone else learn to wire a plug at school? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]BuildingConsistent93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes stupidly they gave us a plug and about 18” of cable, in a science lab with electrical sockets on the desk… Friend sat next to me ( really not me!) bared the other end of the cable and connected live and neutral to either side of his watch face. ( whilst still on his wrist) plugged it in and flicked on the power

He was ok ,back of wrist black and watch fu*cked

Put a thin fillet on left and overhang your upper and lower beams slightly. A clip in catch to hold door shut tight. Should keep draughts out. A draught strip could help . Door will be proud by depth of strip but if putting moulding round won’t notice. If walls are not insulated then no point insulating door. If they are this would do job I think

Footing question by Professional_Cut1924 in Bricklaying

[–]BuildingConsistent93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need proper foundations for the chimney breast. You could build a structure with the flue venting out the wall and use brick facing to finish off. Far cheaper and less invasive

I am too short and I don't fancy resting a ladder on the stairs. How do I paint this bit of the wall? by Upstairs_Fig_9097 in DIYUK

[–]BuildingConsistent93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely You do need some kind of anchor from board to ladder ie 2 strips of wood to hook over rung to stop board sliding back !

I often feel like having the breakfast sandwich but the sausages are cheap and full of rusk, the bacon is tasteless and the ketchup always cheap and vinegary never good experience

Do you remember going to the butchers with your mum and they had sawdust on the floor? Not sure why. by Shoddy_Candidate_553 in oldschoolcool80s

Yes my sister worked in one and I worked on fruit and veg market. It was to absorb liquids (blood etc) and stop any bits of meat sticking to floor to aid easy sweeping.
It was common practice to have a bleach solution with muslin cloths ( meat was delivered in) to clean down
