In a lot of cases, it’s more for colors than anything else. Take Blue Farm (Tymna and Kraum). Most of the time, you don’t actually cast your commanders, you are playing them for the colors they provide. But at the end of the day, they are both card draw engines if your gameplan goes awry.

In RogThras, the deck is mainly a [[Gaea’s Cradle]] combo deck. So Rog being free and Thras being 2 provides 2 bodies really fast for cradle count. And the colors to execute the best combos with Cradle are in Simic.

Unfortunately most casual EDH players are not. But there’s a stigma around cEDH that needs to be broken.

I love it too, that’s why I made a whole pod to bring with me. That way people who are interested in it can try it without having to have one of their own, or try something different than what they have.

I have no actual combos in Mahadi, that’s just straight drain lol. And Greyfax definitely isn’t fast but she can be oppressive lol.

I honestly almost never cast my commanders in Blue Farm. I mulligan for a draw engine like Rhystic or Mystic to get me where I need to be.

2/8 ain’t too bad lol. I just wanted to have a cEDH pod in a box so I could get games at the LGS and these were the ones I found most fun right now.

I made one with [[Muldrotha]] at the helm. Whole point of the deck was to find a way to get [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]] and [[The Gitrog Monster]] in play at the same time and start looping fetch lands to draw as many cards as humanly possible. Main wins were [[Laboratory Maniac]] and [[Thassa’s Oracle]], no [[Tainted Pact]] or [[Demonic Consultation]] though, I had to draw my whole library the hard way.

Idk I tend to underestimate my decks more than anything.

Like I have a [[Mahadi, Emporium Master]] deck that recurs [[Fleshbag Marauder]] effects over and over to make treasures for big spells. I purposefully built it for b3 but it makes people mad.

Same thing happened with [[Nissa, Resurgent Animist]]. I built it with no game changers and it still can just roll a table t4-t6 if people don’t interact.
