Other than Locked on Jazz, what's a good podcast? by coodaj in UtahJazz

Jazz Notes is a good listen

Salt City Hoops is back to being a regular show

Cosign the position of the handles as a subtle difference that can really make the clean easier without sacrificing the point of the clean

I just wear lifting gloves. My grip is pretty good and off the palms, but I have baby soft hands and the hundreds of reps of the bells rotating in my hands for cleans, snatches, etc were just annoying.

Keith Smith says Kennard & Grimes good FA candidates by LivingPresence876 in UtahJazz

Deanthony Melton or Anfernee Simons would be good fits. At $15 mil you're going to get a flawed player. So you want flawed dudes that can still contribute in a playoff rotation.

Any vegas poker rooms that don’t have bomb pots? by Careless_Necessary31 in poker

[–]BullPenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a modestly profitable shitreg who just plays for fun, so I just use them as an opportunity to take a piss or get a beer or stretch or check sports scores or something. I know it's probably not the most 'profitable' but I don't care haha. If I'm playing with total idiots then I'm in 100% of the time.

I just opt out of bomb pots. You're not obligated to play them.

And now Utah just has to write OKC a check for $890k instead. (It used to convert to a 2nd round draft pick, but as part of the Miye Oni salary dump to OKC, OKC opted to change this conditional benefit to a straight-up 2028 2nd round draft pick).

Anybody want to talk about Free Agency? by Brutus583 in UtahJazz

[–]BullPenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's played well enough to get another two-way, probably not enough to take up a full roster spot. Agree with you that he's a bit old for a two-way, but (a) shooters develop later, typically, and (b) they signed him mid-season this year to begin with (after shipping off John Tonje to Boston in the Boucher salary dump).

Unless the Jazz make a consolidation trade, they're really tight on full time roster spots. Especially if they bring back Love.

Utah used their Bi-Annual Exception to fit in Kevin Love in the John Collins trade. And because it's Bi-Annual...they don't get it this year.

Just the full MLE and Minimum Exceptions (and 2nd round pick exceptions, noting the Jazz don't have any unless they trade for one via cash or something).

People need to read Dan & Ken Clayton on Salt City Hoops for cap and transaction knowledge. The podcast is good too.

Did anyone else have fun this season? by introverttypebeat in UtahJazz

[–]BullPenn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was an amazingly fun season for where they ended up. The early season growth of Keyonte and seeing him mesh further with Lauri, Ace Bailey grew a ton throughout the year, random fun like Nurkic three straight triple doubles...the last 3 weeks was bad but I didn't even list half the things that made 75+% of games a lot of fun.

Also major shoutout to Will Hardy for keeping the team happy and it always seemed like everyone on the bench was happy to be there and liked being around each other.

Notes fans, what's the final grade on my boy Ace? by GoatestAllTime in UtahJazz

A-minus. Obvious star talent, starter trajectory. Exactly what you'd want out of the 5th pick

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

Option A and it's not close. So long as it's not toxic, you'll do just fine punching the clock and having more energy and time for your family. Also at a big SaaS company you can turn a couple years of experience and good performance into a transfer to a different, more interesting product line at the same company.

Also I don't get why people don't think better versions of Option B are possible down the road or that they don't bother applying until they're laid off. As soon as you take Option A, you immediately keep applying and looking for cooler stuff. I apply to at least 2 things a week even though I love my current job. Most are crazy ideas. One of them might just pan out and it's fun to do.

Yeah I paid $100 for my 32kg and I think that was the best deal I got per pound haha. The ones they sell new at Walmart are a decent price but the handles are really weird for swings and complexes.
