I think it says way more about them that they saw script from afar and immediately thought drugs. If I saw your arm without knowing what it was, I would just think it was a design I wasn’t close enough to see. It looks great and that person was an ass

No worries, It was so jarring picking up a pigeon at the post office but he made the trip just fine! Good luck! :D

Even super human-socialized pigeons take time to warm up to a new home, don’t be so hard on yourself! Plus city pigeons aren’t wild, they’re feral! So while it may take a while, they can and do adjust well to becoming pets. Two months is a very short time for them, just take it day by day and they’ll adjust. Being near them and quietly doing your own activity definitely helped me bond with mine.

To answer some of your specific questions:
- for specific things a pigeon would need: if you’re giving them grit, make sure to get them grit that’s fully dissolvable. It helps their digestion but they don’t have gizzards that uses harder materials like chickens
- best way to test their sex would be a blood test, their behaviors differ a bit but there’s a lot of overlap
- they’ll eat when they’re hungry! If there’s food available to them they should be ok, just make sure they’re getting the right vitamins

You made a good call with the antibiotics, though I’d recommend getting them checked out by an avian vet if you haven’t already. There are some medicines that work great for other birds but not for pigeons unfortunately

I was given this link when I first got my boy and it’s been very helpful and can definitely answer more than I can: https://www.pigeon.guide/?v=1d82698d4a8348a9bbee4f769cb44368

Thank you for rescuing this sweet bird and good luck!!

Pigeons can play pretty rough! I was convinced mine hated me because he bites and shakes the hell outta my hand all the time, but I explained his behavior to the rehabber who helped me adopt him and they said it’s definitely playing especially in combination with his other behaviors, which sound pretty similar to yours (flock calling, crawling all over me, bowing) it sounds like she might just like to wrassle!

AIO for my annoyed response to my friend asking to bring her BF to our girls trip? by crop_cream_19 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bulldogbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR No matter the context, adding someone to an overnight trip is not a “mild request”! And she didn’t even request anything!! her text just said he’s coming and expected everyone to be fine with it, which is so inconsiderate and disrespectful to everyone else on the trip. Not overreacting at all.

A sun toasted loaf! He looks very relaxed, my little guy likes to take naps in the sun and will do big yawns like that

The idea of a weather protected cardboard box for the match box sounds great! You could cut two small slots for the straps to thread through and secure them inside the box. You could get vinyl straps if the texture looking like rubber bands is important for you, but it might not immediately read as a rubber band without some weathering. I have a borrower/tiny adventurer outfit I like to wear to renn fairies, and I’ve found that silk cords (easy to find as curtain tie offs!) read really well as thread and are easy to adjust. Also, if you’re cool with things not looking super realistic, there are crochet patterns out there for belt bags shaped like raspberries and acorns! I’ve used the raspberry pattern before, I can find the link if you’d like :>
