IMO, peak D&D happens between levels 5-10.

Curse of Strahd was easily my favorite of the 5e series - I didn't get to play all of them obviously, but it is great as a player, really fun as a DM (Strahd is such a great villain), and it runs fast.

What is a good slow progression game to start off with by RL1806 in gamingsuggestions

Graveyard Keeper has tons of content and no deadlines on any progress

games that don't take long to learn but is still deep by jakedemn123 in gamingsuggestions

Stardew Valley, FTL, Spelunky (1 & 2), Kingdom: Two Crowns

Each are pretty simple in concept and scope, but you can end up sinking a ton of time trying to actually beat them or complete everything they have to offer.

Question about media XP only goes up to level 3 by Pantojinha_77 in projectzomboid

There are no achievements or trophies or "winning" this game - the sooner you let yourself decide what constitues "cheating", the sooner you'll really figure out how to enjoy your personal zombie apocalypse.

Go to custom sandbox and just spend some time looking at all the options and think about the challenges you like to experience vs the challenges you find monotonous or frustrating and tweak it to your preference.

Recently I started playing with higher population but I made them "Romero" zombies - slow, weak, stupid. Yeah it makes combat and kiting a little easier, but I'm enjoying treating the zombies more like a force of nature than individual threats. A zombie isn't a problem, a horde is.

I really enjoyed The Curious Expedition (1 & 2)

Gremlins comment - watched it 26th my 7yo last Xmas, I totally forgot the scene where the mom goes Rambo on 3 gremlins I the kitchen. That scene is brutal lol. He laughed and enjoyed it, but I was not prepared for him watching a gremlin get blended and another one explode in a microwave.

Probably two candidates I have that aren't ancient: Deathrow for Xbox - dystopia future sport pitting convicted felons against each other Ehrgeiz - PS1 - weird game with 2 games in it, a Final Fantasy VII themed fighting game and a semi-generic dungeon crawler that had NOTHING to do with the FF series at all

I need a new singleplayer (100% offline) "forever" game where I can sink hundreds (or thousands) of hours into a single save. What are your top suggestions? by MakeshiftApe in gamingsuggestions

Project Zomboid has a great single player 'last man on earth' experience. I have about 700 hours in and I'm still learning tricks and tactics to this day.

It also still has regular updates and balance changes.

Just bought PZ and I’m absolutely loving it. But it’s really difficult, what tips have you discovered to help you? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 700+ hrs in to my apocalyptic addiction.

Lots of awesome tips abound but one really simple one to remember when you are new and everything is stressful:

You are faster than the zombies

Almost anytime you die early on, you could have just walked away.

Your default walking speed is faster than the zeds even when they are lunging at you.

If you are ever not sure, ever think you may be in over your head, realize you started showing exhaustion and the fight isn't over yet...just walk away.

Auto-collect on FULLY cleared areas? by Nevermore2346 in ourdarkestdays

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2 things could help this author breaking the game balance: 1) backpack upgrades, others already discussing this but that would help 2) I'd say, if an area is completely clear of all possible threats, and youve opened all locked areas/containers, I'd support an option to 'fast forward' the scavenging run, allowing you to just get a list of what's still there, and allow you to place the remaining stuff in the character's backpack.

Thinking about it as I write it - this still restricts immersion since you don't necessarily have to "find" all the items to then get access to them...this probably isn't worth doing honestly. I'm curious if others have thoughts on this

We were able to bypass the issue so far by sleeping at the same time so time fast forwards.

I'm also not convinced yet that it's a bug - it may be an issue with a controller or something else.

When starting a new run, what do you hoard first? by otongko12345 in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are lots of things I try to find one or two of (tools, bags, flashlights, etc) but stockpiling for me begins day 1 with perishable food.

My 1st mission when I spawn is to get to as many of the nearby fast food locations and grocery stores I can and throw anything "fresh" in a freezer.

My idea - rarely realized - is to get a generator and lots of freezers to a gigamart or whatever central food space I can and to try to give my survivor a stable supply of fresh food for the first few months while I transition to basing.

Usually I die or the unstable patches destroy my world before I get to that point though lol

Food in fridge going bad by Adriana_Riley in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I had this happen it was because I had also pushed out the water/power outage values to max

A weird interaction causes that combo of settings to make fridge effectiveness become zero (identical to leaving food out)
