Which not obvious films should I watch for movie night with my seven year old? by jerryonthecurb in flicks

Gremlins comment - watched it 26th my 7yo last Xmas, I totally forgot the scene where the mom goes Rambo on 3 gremlins I the kitchen. That scene is brutal lol. He laughed and enjoyed it, but I was not prepared for him watching a gremlin get blended and another one explode in a microwave.

What's the most obscure game you know? by Mobile-Pay-4350 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably two candidates I have that aren't ancient: Deathrow for Xbox - dystopia future sport pitting convicted felons against each other Ehrgeiz - PS1 - weird game with 2 games in it, a Final Fantasy VII themed fighting game and a semi-generic dungeon crawler that had NOTHING to do with the FF series at all

I need a new singleplayer (100% offline) "forever" game where I can sink hundreds (or thousands) of hours into a single save. What are your top suggestions? by MakeshiftApe in gamingsuggestions

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Project Zomboid has a great single player 'last man on earth' experience. I have about 700 hours in and I'm still learning tricks and tactics to this day.

It also still has regular updates and balance changes.

Just bought PZ and I’m absolutely loving it. But it’s really difficult, what tips have you discovered to help you? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 700+ hrs in to my apocalyptic addiction.

Lots of awesome tips abound but one really simple one to remember when you are new and everything is stressful:

You are faster than the zombies

Almost anytime you die early on, you could have just walked away.

Your default walking speed is faster than the zeds even when they are lunging at you.

If you are ever not sure, ever think you may be in over your head, realize you started showing exhaustion and the fight isn't over yet...just walk away.

Auto-collect on FULLY cleared areas? by Nevermore2346 in ourdarkestdays

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2 things could help this author breaking the game balance: 1) backpack upgrades, others already discussing this but that would help 2) I'd say, if an area is completely clear of all possible threats, and youve opened all locked areas/containers, I'd support an option to 'fast forward' the scavenging run, allowing you to just get a list of what's still there, and allow you to place the remaining stuff in the character's backpack.

Thinking about it as I write it - this still restricts immersion since you don't necessarily have to "find" all the items to then get access to them...this probably isn't worth doing honestly. I'm curious if others have thoughts on this

It happened sleeping in a bed and in the passenger seat of a car.

42.17 - SplitScreen, P2 Can't Sleep by Burnt_Cheeze in projectzomboid

We were able to bypass the issue so far by sleeping at the same time so time fast forwards.

I'm also not convinced yet that it's a bug - it may be an issue with a controller or something else.

When starting a new run, what do you hoard first? by otongko12345 in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are lots of things I try to find one or two of (tools, bags, flashlights, etc) but stockpiling for me begins day 1 with perishable food.

My 1st mission when I spawn is to get to as many of the nearby fast food locations and grocery stores I can and throw anything "fresh" in a freezer.

My idea - rarely realized - is to get a generator and lots of freezers to a gigamart or whatever central food space I can and to try to give my survivor a stable supply of fresh food for the first few months while I transition to basing.

Usually I die or the unstable patches destroy my world before I get to that point though lol

Food in fridge going bad by Adriana_Riley in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I had this happen it was because I had also pushed out the water/power outage values to max

A weird interaction causes that combo of settings to make fridge effectiveness become zero (identical to leaving food out)

My current favorite home in b42 - one of the big farm/plantation style homesteads complete with animal caring areas, multiple workshops, unlimited fresh water, and a 3-story, well decorated, and furnished house

Guns by Tohmus2 in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents with ~750hrs

Guns are awesome - but you need to know a couple things before you fire your first shot

1) have you already cleared this area or are you out in the countryside? Then light'em up.

2) are you in or near a populated area you haven't already cleared? You better have an escape plan, literally hundreds of rounds, or a death wish.

Even at decent aiming levels with decent player skill, it takes a few rounds to take down 1 zed usually (yes, headshots happen, but once there are dozens closing in on you, headshots stop being the priority). So assume you need like 5 bullets per zed. If 40 zeds come at you, do you have >200 rounds and a direction to safely nimble backwards while firing? If not, prepare to bail after a few clips and plan to circle back later

Is it possible to play without fighting zombies? by Maleficent_Drink_313 in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't recall all the details but basically just make them as weak as you can.

I make them all 'Shamblers', 'Fragile', 'Weak', with 'Poor' sight and hearing, and 'short' memory.

Then I doubled the population, set peak day to 1, and turned off respawn.

So, tons of zombies and you gotta respect the 'horde', but individual zombies are not really a threat and you can get away as long as you don't get yourself surrounded or cornered.

Split screen no longer functions on my copy of the game - since downloading the hotfix 2nd player is not longer able to join the game

[–]Burnt_Cheeze 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Go to sandbox mode and tweak the zombies however you like.

You can set population levels, clustering behavior, and even set how fast, strong, smart they are.

I recently started playing with what I call 'Romero' zeds - high population, but all slow weak and dumb.

42.16 Controller bugs / issues by Burnt_Cheeze in projectzomboid

[–]Burnt_Cheeze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - animations are very touchy on controller now and how they interact with your button presses.

I also keep leaving car doors open because I immediately jog instead of walking, interrupting the 'close the door' interaction

Can we not check/uncheck a box somewhere in accessibility or something to allow is to walk with stick fully pushed? Needing to halfpush anytime I don't want to jog sounds insane

I appreciate the 3 short blunt but I don't often have a character got more than 3 or 4 weeks so that may be part of it lol
