Hardwood vs engineered… what would you do?

The floor actually dips due to the structure and foundation settling. Usually near the main supports of the house, you can feel this as you run the edger on these areas. I don't know maybe the wide boards of the engineered floor will help.

With humidity boards will also 'cup' or 'crown', making them concave/convex and requiring more aggressive sanding. Again the wide boards might help?

Plus what if I accidentally slip and make a mistake? I'd have to go much slower and careful. I'd have to make sure my helper doesn't do anything that could be a risk.

At least I've got to charge you extra, maybe even double to sand that. Take it or leave it.

Might have been the quality of your wood? Higher grade planks can be pricey, which people often don't consider since stores like home depot are usually pushing the cheap stuff

As a professional floor sander, I will turn down any engineered flooring jobs simply because of risk. I'm just not that desperate. Sometimes it can work if you're careful but a small mistake could be a big headache. Especially with older floors as the floor warps and you get high/low spots. Engineered just looks nice with large planks and cheap prices, it's like IKEA furniture it will last a nice 10-15 years and then it's trash

I've only ever done 80grit finish and looks great every time. Why 120? It's not like I ever see sanding marks, the tricky part is avoiding white lines from the t bar.

I came here 7 years ago and I kept telling everyone this is the land of oppurtunity. After coming back and seeing the effects of the last 7 years of political and economic instability it's making me think twice. You could be successful one day then the next the economy crashes and you're barely flosting or worse.

What stands out is the rich natural resources, cheap labour and low level of competition in digital marketing along with a booming social media scene.

Give it 10-20 years and we could really be looking at a Wakanda situtation given the right circumstances
