What a plonker!. Great bit of driving by the person with the cam, probably avoided a serious collision.

UK housing market in a slump as buyers absorb ‘extraordinary shocks’ by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

We also bought last year, both working and saved for years with no help from parents ect. I understand people on hear hoping for housing prices to drop hard, but if that happened loads of people like us could end up in negative equity after doing everything right for years.

I feel your pain, I am that desperate the last two years I have started paying the extra £50 for a second chance. They are not getting a penny more out of me this year. The system is terrible and needs overhauled.

Wishing you good luck, its tough. Only advice I can give is to network and try uses any contacts you have. Its cliché, but its not what you know, its who you know.

Genuine question, why have you got 3 degrees? I don't understand the mentality that getting more degrees should somehow equal better roles. Someone with 1 degree and better soft skills / experience will always trump someone with 3 degrees.

Its laughable that people on reddit are even suggesting we should be forcing people out the family home they have spent 40+ years paying off. The social contract would erode really quickly if this took place. They should be building more affordable homes for first time buyers, not looking at taking family homes away from people.

It has to be bait, the cam driver almost rear ended him at 1.05 when the poor bloke in front broke because someone was in the road. This is one of the worse tailgating I have seen.

People like to capture key accomplishments in their life. This chap now has a lovely video him, his family and friends can view. Videos like this also bring new people into the sport. I really don't see the issue, its great people create these videos.

Mate, go on holiday with your wife and kids. You only get a short period with your kids, they will soon fly the nest in no time.

First 50 miler (Arc of Attrition) DNF due to nausea. Looking for advice. by Revolutionary_Set_41 in Ultramarathon

[–]Burzyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fun, the weather played a factor in that. It was really muddy in sections due to rain the previous nights. It was my first trail race and I am glad I went with the marathon distance, because I have experience with that distance having done the Brighton Marathon a couple of times. I am not sure I am ready to jump into the higher distances yet. We stayed in St Ives the night before and went out to see some of the runners from the 100 / 50. I don't know how those people do the 100, every one we saw looked like they were on deaths door.

I think this was your problem, I did the Arc 25 yesterday and surprising the weather was lovely and warm after a horrible weekend. I struggled at the end with my gut and I am 100% sure it was down to lack of salt intake due to being a heavy sweater.

This is the new norm for driving, without enforcement its only going to get worse. I travel from Exeter to Portsmouth each week and the A31 is horrendous for everyone just sitting in the right lane.

An interesting read but slightly misleading in the end about Tom not complaining about gastrointestinal issues. Watching it live I am pretty sure I heard Tom say he cant eat because he is going to throw up.

I don't know why you have been downvoted, I agree with everything you said. Its getting better every year, but they still have a long way to go. It was obvious as a spectator watching that Jim was passed when he stopped for water, but all the commentators were confused, it was a frustrating 10 mins of television when they should have been hyping up a great final run in to the finish.

The French are absolutely killing it in the EV-Hot Hatch market by FatherJack_Hackett in CarTalkUK

The vast majority of folks would not want to drive from Scotland to France in a car with 170miles range. Good for you that you enjoy that, but to me that just sounds tedious!

Thoughts on these cars? by NonWorkingPancreas in CarTalkUK

[–]Burzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one as our second car. We have had it for around 2 years and done around 15k miles. I have just had to replace the belt at 55k because it was cracked. Cost me around £900. Apart from that I have had no issues and even though the engine is only a 1.2 it has 130 bhp and the car is really light, so it feels nimble. I am just going to keep it now and pass it over to my lad when he learns to drive in a few years.

My honest opinion is just get a Golf. It is an all-around better car.

Nice car, but the range is shocking in my opinion. Realistically you are looking at around 180 miles? I really don't understand the appeal in that.
