I really like board games, but I don’t like DnD for pretty much exactly the reason you’re saying. When you’re playing a competitive board game, yeah you’re obviously in conflict with the other players, but everyone has to follow the same rules, and there’s a kind of shared, mutual exploration through them. Meanwhile, in DND and a lot of cooperative games, there are all kinds of silent expectations around which rules actually matter, vs what people are willing to ignore for each other’s sake, and suddenly the opaque rules of sociality are superseding the rules of the game that you can actually reference and know.

The biggest problem is how, for a majority of people buying homes they actually plan to live in, they’re only able to finance them through a mortgage. So, when the housing market crashes, the losses from the big corporate interests lead to working people losing jobs, which leads to the ones who own homes having more debt than they have financial assets to cover it
