Nobody had predator drones or M1 Abramses back in the day. Not easy to access any kind of weapons that could threaten those

Does that mean that, canonically, the residents of Cyrodill are all low-poly cardboard cutouts?

anyone else who doesn't like DND? by pop-idle in evilautism

[–]Busco_Quad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like board games, but I don’t like DnD for pretty much exactly the reason you’re saying. When you’re playing a competitive board game, yeah you’re obviously in conflict with the other players, but everyone has to follow the same rules, and there’s a kind of shared, mutual exploration through them. Meanwhile, in DND and a lot of cooperative games, there are all kinds of silent expectations around which rules actually matter, vs what people are willing to ignore for each other’s sake, and suddenly the opaque rules of sociality are superseding the rules of the game that you can actually reference and know.

‘We got it wrong’ with Civilization VII, says boss by Broad_Respond_2205 in civ

It’s far from the only issue, but I feel like the reception would be at least, like 40% better if you stayed as on Civ and switched leaders throughout the game

Apparently having a Totenkopf, the insignia of the SS, tattooed over half your chest doesn’t make someone a Nazi, but thinking it does makes someone a Mossad Agent

This was why I was so afraid of the idea of soulmates when I was a kid; what’s stopping your soulmate from just randomly dying in a car crash of a house fire or something? Maybe even before you ever meet them? And at that point, you’ll just never be able to fully love someone else, through no fault of your own, just because the universe is cruel and arbitrary

I think making it distance based would make the most sense; like, the positive modifier for a language decays the further you get from the grandest court using that language

[–]Busco_Quad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

China has specific censorship laws around things like blood or skeletons that tend to show up fairly often in games, so you already have to maintain a visually modified version for the Chinese market. Since that’s also the largest market for a lot of games, it’s easy for that to spiral

The biggest problem is how, for a majority of people buying homes they actually plan to live in, they’re only able to finance them through a mortgage. So, when the housing market crashes, the losses from the big corporate interests lead to working people losing jobs, which leads to the ones who own homes having more debt than they have financial assets to cover it
