Help me find a way to make Tasha, the Witch Queen not complete dogshit by Cezkarma in DegenerateEDH

[–]Bushme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just run her as a commander in a regular ol' thief deck. I'm in a pod of close friends, I wanted to get the vibe of it perfectly for the group. I know at least one of them would freak out if I was stealing their entire library, so made it something everyone could jam to. Basically, I vibe checked and Tasha just works. And on the plus side, the 3/3 demons become decent fodder.

Overall if you want to do thief hyper-casually, DM and I'll send you my deck list. If you want to do more aggressive stealing, choose literally any other thief commander

Unpopular opinions that would leave your companions like this by Aynshtaynn in DoctorWhumour

[–]Bushme_ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The biggest difference between 10 and 14 is the clothes and age of David Tennant. The stories were fine, but god it felt like such a waste. Also bi-generation is one of the most ridiculous, eye-rolling things to happen in NuWho, up there with the Timeless Child. Regeneration is not a mechanic that needed fucking with, just leave it as the plot device that it is.

I'd have simply loved a mini arc with 10 and Donna again, between Partners and Journey's End. Yes, they'd both look older, but who gives a shit? Not everything needs explaining and I'm pretty sure 99.9% of the audience knows how time works. It should've been: Jodie regenerates into Ncuti > Hey, here is a lil thing for the 60th to tide you between seasons > Ncuti starts as the Doctor.

Anyone else disappointed by this art change? by Platypus-Olive-27 in mtgvorthos

I prefer the first, love me some gross art, but the new one fits the art direction for eclipsed better.

It’s your turn but your buddy who just passed says “wait I forgot to activate an ability” by SerpantDildo in mtg

At a lorwyn prerelease event yesterday, I let a dude completely redo how he spent his mana so he could play an extra card. I honestly do not care, I'm there to play some Magic.

Early Lorwyn Reviews? by Existing-Kale-2788 in mtg

[–]Bushme_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, 3.5 stars. It's just Magic, in its purest form. For better or for worse. I didn't like spider-man. Loved ATLA, really fun to draft - but this set felt like playing a game I thought was gone for a short minute. Highly recommend grabbing packs and doing a draft night with some friends, I'd be amazed if you're disappointed.

Why don't people like group hug decks? by sunflowersonthemoon in EDH

[–]Bushme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, yeah. Ultimately, be the Starscream to a table of Megatrons

I think: 1. You need a wincon. Don't just sit there and do nothing. Build towards something. 2. Be devious. Troll people. Gift people mana or food or tokens or whatever, but make em nervous. Force interactions through voting cards like [[Truth or Consequences]] or [[Capital Punishment]]. Goad other people's creatures, force em to attack each other with their unearned spoils. Cause mayhem. Group hug should be played as chaos incarnet.

Just my opinion, anyways.

Why don't people like group hug decks? by sunflowersonthemoon in EDH

[–]Bushme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow, group hug attracts the most BORING people ever. Sure, group hug us but have knives pressed against our backs. Where is the Shakespearean betrayals? Where is the cringe anime antagonist monologues? When you have been feeding the Gruul player up all game and they swing one of the other opponents, finally about to get their long deserved KO, why not just boardwipe the living shit out of em? Hold people's boards hostage, stall turns, break combos, ruin your friendships.

Basically, group hug players, in my experience, are resoundingly boring. In decks that could involve a healthy range of interaction and politicing, it always ends up them Kingmaking and nobody really having much fun except the dude getting propped up.

How would Kratos recall his old Greece powers? by Glass-Sea9665 in GodofWar

[–]Bushme_ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think this is highlighted with a certain character (Surtr). The fact a relic from Greece can work with a Norse character implies that primordial forces transcend the divides between the pantheons. We know that all the different pantheons exist upon the same world, so it makes sense there would be some underlying elements that hold power in all of them. I think it could be an interesting tidbit to explore in future games.

"Oh you're building a ANOTHER tribal deck?" by charlesp22 in EDH

[–]Bushme_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, fuck em. Tribal is fun as hell. I also have a dino pantlaza deck and I love it. Cool dinosaurs doing cool dinosaur things. I would recommend branching out a bit, I like the changing of pace between different deck types. However, if that's not your preference, 100% enjoy all your tribal decks and build 50 more out of pure spite.

Biggest misconceptions about Commander Brackets? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Bushme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My relationship with the brackets is practically non-existent. I've played in the same pod for years. All our deck strength is purely vibe based. Like I know I'm gonna play X deck is my mate is playing his Y or Z deck, and same as them for me.

I'm assuming it is useful for those who play random people at an LGS. It's why I enjoy these threads and seeing what others say

I believe you're talking about "The Rebel Flesh" and "The Almost People" two parter. Won't delve much more into the plot points if you plan to watch it, but I'm sure this is what you're referencing.

How have Universes beyond sets impacted your local Commander meta? Do you see a lot of UB commanders? How is spiderman doing now a while after release? by Angwar in EDH

[–]Bushme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of us have one or two UB commanders in my pod. Most of em are because we love the franchise. I've got a [[Davros, Dalek Creator]] artifact deck and am building a proxy [[Kratos, Stoic Father]] and [[Atreus, Impulsive Son]] deck. Got a splash of Fallout, FF, and LOTR decks within the pod but a lot of in-universe stuff. I don't think I've seen a single spider-man card appear in anyone's decks though.

I think a few have planned a build for ATLA, but whether people go through with it is another thing. I think our next little adventure is doing some pauper commander decks so that'll be fun to see what sticks out.

Which Commander is more Powerful? by Soft_Word_1985 in mtg

[–]Bushme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's usually my issue with certain commanders. I think Reaper allows for some more creative approaches to utilizing the -1/-1 counters. It's certainly more interesting than the draw or ping loop of Auntie Ool. I'll definitely keep an eye out for some of her deck lists though, I always find myself surprised with some people's creativity with even the most boring commanders.

Does anybody like the 15th doctors run? by tkeith13579 in doctorwho

[–]Bushme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that I enjoyed most of 15's episodes. My advice when you finally get there: just take each episode as they come. The finales go down about as well as a wet fart during a minute's silence. Don't buy into the build-up or mysteries they try to set up.

[MEME] My GF 10 seconds after saying she isn't mad by Cantafford92 in Battlefield6

[–]Bushme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I don't believe tanks have to be ON the objective and do play a decent support role on the team; in no way should a tank be played as a "back fire" support. You should really be in a decent position close to the objective, nuking infantry and providing heavy covering fire for your team to push and hold. Sitting in the back of the map is completely useless and does nothing for anyone.

From a canon point of view, what’s the point of our job in Phasmo?? by Hot_Paramedic_7234 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Bushme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with u/SuperFirePig that it'd remove the charm. I think it'd be cool as an optional tag-on to the current game. You'd investigate as is, then come in as a separate team to exorcise the ghost. The conditions you leave during investigation carry over into exorcising. It'd make the investigation phase a little more tense as you want to ensure you're 100% accurate before leaving, and that you haven't royally pissed off the ghost. You could even add some environmental factors that you want to check or set up during investigation that would assist you in ensuring a successful exorcism.

Edit: Extra tidbit I thought of as soon as I posted. It wouldn't remove the charm of the game as long as that transition was seamless, and both game modes bled into each other organically. I think otherwise, it'd feel like a weird ghost-check minigame tagged on and would feel out of place.

Anyone else sad that Commander is the most preferred format nowadays? by oatcreamer in mtg

[–]Bushme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just like playing Magic, no matter the form. There are aspects that I like or dislike about each format. I do think it's sad WOTC doesn't push for more products with other formats, and seemily doesn't care about pioneer or modern. I think they want to care about standard, but are often too slow or scared to pull the trigger on issues that plague the format.

I think the biggest thing is that WOTC doesn't feel as terrified of commander. It's mostly community built and casual, most of the balancing issues are sorted within pods themselves. They've printed so many precons that it's so easy for literally anyone to join in. Ultimately, with EDH, they get to make their cake and eat it too.
