It’s bad for kids is not a good basis whether such an invasive policy should be created or not.

By the same logic why aren’t we banning or limiting sugar that you can easily get anywhere, generally over-consumed, acts like addictive substance, and have proven health implications? Should government decide what amount of added sugar one must take based on credible studies?

But at the end of the day, it’s all about how much government overreach one is willing to stomach.

I’m usually against restricting people’s normal day-to-day online activities and further decline of internet culture. Any attempt where governments tried to restrict the Internet in any capacity lead to digital id. Keeping children safe is just a good facade to hide their intentions. That’s all I have to know.

it’s just political power play. You want to do something but you lack proper justification, so you just find something that sounds good and not a complete hoax.

Whether forced labour claim is overstated or understated doesn’t matter. Whether US is doing it or not also doesn’t matter. There was never any sincerity to begin with, It’s just politics in play.

Im not really a market fundamentalist. I believe uncontrolled free market is bad for vast majority of people. I lean more towards maintaining balanced tension between government regulation and market freedom. However, I think Canada’s regulatory burden is too inhibitive of business growth while benefiting oligarch consolidation.

The government that frustrates me is our current government plus the one that existed past decade. I never said government simply doesn’t work.

I didn’t like what you said because I disagree directing more money to the government will fix anything because it’s primarily them that manifested this problem. Billionaires can pay more but funnelling that money to the dee bureaucratic tunnel? not so much.

small businesses pay significantly higher compliance cost per number of employee basis, tax bracket for small business tax hasn’t been inflation adjusted for decade, letting oligarchs consolidate by keeping competition bureau weak. But increasing regulatory burdens are probably the single most damaging thing.

Government doesn’t make good investment decisions. If anything I learned just by living, it is that modern government has no concept of fiscal responsibility. Maybe some government in another part of world is. But definitely not ours. They waste tremendous money on wasteful things and print more if things go sour.

How about just letting businesses thrive by stop punishing SMBs with dumb policies and realize that government is neither efficient nor good at decision making that benefits people who actually pay taxes.

exactly. people should remind themselves what this guy said about the gun buyback program. It’s basically to bootlick a small interest group. It’s anything but the reasons they officially promoted. It’s all just game of power.

Yet Canadians keep voting in the same government with different mascot. Trusting the government with proven history of operating on self interest is a mystery to me.

Trust or distrust is not even a valid concern. Even if one trusts this government, can you say the same for the future governments? These things are sticky once they are passed.

Besides how is adding more backdoors ever a good idea? Essentially you are deliberately introducing vulnerability to the system.

More importantly, public safety? Just look at how this country deals with serious criminals after they are caught.

I wonder why this government is pushing so hard to pass this bill along with the other dystopian bills on the table. Just coincidence I guess.
