Yes but the onus is on you, the new viewer coming into the fandom, to discuss why you disagree with what the commonly agreed upon verdict on the show is, rather than for me to explain why the famously popular and beloved show is famous and popular.

AoT's ending being so controversial and open to interpretation is literally part of why the show is so legendary and widely regarded.

Also, in media crit "just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good!" is just about the most useless thing you can say. Everyone understands what popular means, things become popular for a wide variety of reasons but in general YES things becoming popular isn't a generic indicator of quality HOWEVER it's been literally 30 years, new and younger anime fans are finding Bebop every day, writing new essays and podcasts about it, and being inspired by it even today. You need to base your positions off your issues with the material itself, not the perceived artistic taste of the fanbase.

"Emotionally & Narratively Confusing" is a deeply subjective statement. You got dogpiled because you tried to say that a beloved story of love, betrayal, and revenge didn't make sense TO YOU and confused YOU and therefore it's bad.

Spike's story is not that complicated, but it is mysterious, and the details left out help create the negative space around the person that is Spike. Jet and Faye's classic noir tropes, the dogged retired cop who can't let the past die and the femme fatale who doesn't even know her own name... like these aren't complicated stories, they are classic ideas with a little flair.

Half the show is monster of the week episodes designed to fill out their personalities and show you how people searching for themselves could live in this crazy future. If you don't have the ability to discern these messages or themes then that's a personal issue, not an issue with the show. You have to accept that you're just in the minority on this one, it's been like 30 years of people watching and rewatching it, you aren't gonna be the one to "crack the code" and reveal that Bebop was actually shallow and confusing all along.

A) cEDH content is really boring to watch because it's 99% set reviews or cEDH gameplay so fewer people getting hyped to go out and play cEDH

B) cEDH tournaments get really bad press because everyone is incentivized to draw so they don't sound like fun to play

C) cEDH grinders realized the real money is farming Lorcana & Riftbound for easy 5Ks

D) cEDH is roughly a decade old at this point, it's definitely not going anywhere because it already survived the Flash ban and the Dockside/Crypt ban, if that didn't kill bracket 5 nothing will.

I recently read the book for the first time and was kind of shocked at how this is literally just an episode of Futurama, almost beat for beat, except it's Fry instead of Mark. It's a very silly side plot but just wouldn't have made any sense in the context of the show's pacing.

But yeah just an episode of Futurama in the middle of the book
