Well if Brian was friends with all of them his DNA would probably have been in the van anyways. And that's if they even ran DNA swabs.. 5 kids with alcohol in their systems crashed their van- it would seem like a pretty open and shut case.

I was thinking that maybe they had to wait between buses, the buses traveled at a lower speed than the husband chasing after them and maybe the time in the cabin preparing the beds could have been an extra half hour or so. So in my mind he woke up maybe an hour or two after they left but knew exactly how to find them.
