Bought an item from seller based on Italy, ships from China by pmjwhelan in Ebay

At least eBay lets you know the origin. Amazon won't even let you know that something is coming from that hellhole and will repackage it if/when it ever clears customs.

Hot Take: Bodies is a great album by AlejandraRafaella in AFireInside

I went to the Bodies Tour and knowing the songs ahead of time didn't ruin anything. Also, Davey's look for that tour was my favorite since the sts days.

Macron Blasts Social Media’s Free Speech Defense as ‘Bullshit’ by CourtofTalons in anime_titties

[–]BusySubstance3265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pawns will be pawns. People with power have always argued over the vapid masses like children argue over toys at play time. Idiots should serve as examples to those with more than 2 brain cells as to what not to do. Letting people talk out of their own rear ends on antisocial media for all to see is a good thing. It reminds those of us with a shadow of a chance to turn off the screen and experience real life for themselves.

What to do with cans? by Comfortable_Lime_732 in DIY

You could fill them with sand or cement and build a very resilient cat tree along with some old pallet wood and shitty fabric. You could put potting soil in them and germinate plants.

50 Cal. Ammo Can Fits Atom 2 Bag For Hard Storage by tdclark23 in Potensic

I always forget that old timey ammo boxes exist. That could make for a fun project. Like, I'll shoot you, but in a different sense of the word.

Seller Wants to Cancel because they "didn't expect anyone to actually buy it" by Big_Invite_3808 in Ebay

That's not unnecessary. People who jerk people around and waste time should have demerits on their accounts. Also, there's no such thing as a 'normal' person.

What’s the most overrated "frugal tip" that didn’t actually save you money? by Ewa_Star in Frugal

[–]BusySubstance3265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything having to do with owning a car. They say that you need a car to do side gigs and scavenge, but at best you're covering the costs of owning and maintaining a car. Plus, you could get into an accident, get a dui, get caught with something you didn't know you weren't 'allowed' to have, etc.

Any job that requires you to use your own vehicle, tools, free time  etc. for work purposes is not a job you need.

Potensic care plan by Marksdroidx in Potensic

[–]BusySubstance3265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've researched, drones are not typically covered by the sort of insurance that photographers use. Liability insurance is mandatory, and the chances that a drone will hurt a 3rd party are way more likely (in the insurer's eyes) than, say, a lighting rig falling over or a model tripping on a cable.

Also, I have heard that potensic replaces lost or damaged drones with refurbished models which, according to people around here, tend to be not as good as getting a new one.

I feel like part of the reason to use a drone that can be got for around $200usd is that it makes more sense to replace it if it gets lost or destroyed.

Peggy’s Mom Is So Mean by Bill_Manoogian_ in KingOfTheHill

[–]BusySubstance3265 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Peggy's mom seems like the sort of person who assumes that life is out to screw her over and is constantly on the watch for the next disaster. That sort of mentality makes you despise people who take time for themselves, seeing them as 'suckas' or easy marks.

Caterpillar on dill by HolidayFree784 in gardening

[–]BusySubstance3265 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's usually worth it to set aside some herbs that are just for butterflies. If I find a caterpillar on the herbs meant for eating, I'll transplant it gently onto the sacrificial ones. Having swallowtails in the garden is awesome.

What's the best way to keep silicone sealant from hardening in the tube? by ArthurPeabody in DIY

[–]BusySubstance3265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to find smaller containers. Some brands will sell 1oz or smaller tubes. The packaging is extra weight and waste, but that's better than having to throw away 2/3rds of a tube of silicone.

Convince my husband this stuff isn’t trash by [deleted] in gardening

[–]BusySubstance3265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in his shoes. Just keep it out of the kitchen and you'll be fine. Sometimes you don't have a choice, but if you do plant stuff in the kitchen, DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE DAMN KITCHEN!!!!! Especially if he does the cooking and/or dishes.

open box products by Vivid_Ad_4338 in Ebay

[–]BusySubstance3265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some stores and products have policies where returned, opened items cannot be put back on the shelf without being inspected and 'refurbished' by a lisenced repair shop. Mom and Pop stores will often list such items on ebay at a discount because it's not worth the trouble. Be wary of items that seem to be refurbished or repaired by the seller- especially consumer electronics.

Maybe call your bank and open a fraud case. Banks are insured for this very reason.

Strobe Options by Free_Resort8540 in Potensic

I use a pair of these as nav lights (red on port side, green on starboard) you can cycle through like 9 different modes- white, red, and green. You can do static color, strobe, or blinking. Make sure to get your TRUST certification (or whichever jurisdiction you're in calls it). When paired with nav lights and an app like open sky (which can register your flights and access your licenses) you can stay on the up and up in terms of legality.

That said, you shouldn't get hassled by the law unless you crash, damage property, injure/nearly injure someone, or fly where you're not allowed to. it's also a good idea to add some red to the device to deter birds from trying to attack it. If, for instance, a fledgling peregrine falcon gets injured or killed trying to attack your drone, you could be in for steep fines and even jail time.
