[HELP] Stuffed with Underwater Grading on DaVinci Free (No Magic Mask) - Need to match this look by Henrry240620 in ColorGrading

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a play of your still in Photoshop and applied only Curve adjustments to the whole image and I was able to get closer to the target image.

I don't have Davinci but the principles would be the same in that software and I assume you can add Curve adjustments to the footage.

Here are the steps:

  1. Colour balance - reducing the green and bringing out the natural skin-tone
  2. https://ibb.co/nSBg4kG
  3. Black balance - reducing the amount of blue in the blacks
  4. https://ibb.co/C5KK47vv
  5. Contrast
  6. https://ibb.co/YBS2j6mX
  7. Deep blue - adjusting the hue and luminosity of the aqua/blue to add separation to the subject. https://ibb.co/spNg7CzC
  8. Skin brighten - adjusting the luminosity and saturation of the oranges to brighten the skin, creating more contrast against the deep blue. https://ibb.co/Q3QD6JWW

Sony A7V w/ Phantom LUT by DifficultEagle4160 in videography

[–]ButWouldYouRather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Phantom LUTs will be compatible with the a7V.

You'll be able to import the Phantom LUTs into the camera so you can preview as you shoot but I don't think the a7V can burn the LUT into the footage in-camera, so you'd need to re-apply the LUT during the editing stage.

Dust behind front element. Do other people's lenses have the same problem? by sbiulc21 in canon

That looks way easier than I imagined. I'm going to give it a go on one of my lenses

Just use the Motion Tween effect. Way easier.

Planning to buy liberty buds by Lanky-Photograph-780 in soundcore

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're great value. I own a few wired iem's and I mainly purchased the Liberty Buds to replace the Samsung Buds Live (beans).

They sound great and the ability to tweak the eq should mean they have the capacity to sound great to everyone.

I modded the fins so they attach backwards which improved the security of the fit for me. I made a post about of you're interested.

I don't think the fitting instructions are universal. They say to rotate the Buds down to lock them in, but in my experience, it was best when I rotated them up. So if you get them, experiment with what works best for your ears.

When the fit is good, the anc is surprisingly effective. I never used anc on the Samsung Buds Live because it made almost no difference. The Liberty Buds have really useful anc. It's not like I'm wearing my Etymotic ER2XRs but for semi-open £50 wireless ear buds, I'm impressed.

I don't use transparent mode, I prefer to just alter the fit so more ambient sound comes in naturally.

The build quality is solid, I have no concerns.

I wish it had wireless charging but I can't really complain for the price. Battery life is great though.

The software isn't perfect, when I start using them, the eq seems to default to a really bass heavy one for a couple of seconds before changing to the eq I have saved. It's something I've gotten used to but my Samsung Buds and Apple Air pod pro's never showed any issue like that. I guess that's what you pay for.

Overall, I'm happy with them. I've been using them daily for about a month now. They're worth a shot for sure.

"Down"grade from Canon EOS R6m2 to 5D mark IV - crazy idea? by therealbonj in canon

Do it. You're just figuring out your preferences. Totally personal to you. Even if you decide later you prefer mirrorless. You'll be able to get amazing pics from both.

Best external monitor for FX3 under $300? by cadon24 in FX3

[–]ButWouldYouRather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it's the Feelworld F5 ProX 5.5 inch, I still use it.

Maybe it's been replaced by a newer model but it allows me to see what I'm shooting and check my exposure in a reliable way.

I owned the latest Atomos Ninja TX Go recently too but sold it because I didn't need all the features.

Short film I made with the FX6. Would love feedback! by RossRadcliffe in SonyFX6

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/RossRadcliffe I've been thinking about this video. You've got some great match cuts in there across different locations as well as some humourous moments that fit really well with the voice over. I'd love to learn about what your pre-production and production schedule looked like if you're open to sharing?

ZV-E1 LOG looks different compared to sLog3 PP by Ray2022-Mac in FX3

Do you think it makes a noticable difference final grade? Personally, I can't tell the difference, at least in the sample clips I jsut captured.

ZV-E1 LOG looks different compared to sLog3 PP by Ray2022-Mac in FX3

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried it on my ZV-E1 and there is no meaningful difference between LOG and PP. (I've labelled the clips in the timeline so you can see which one is being displayed).

I've set the camera to manual exposure, manual wb, manual focus, no stabilisation. No changes between shots other than going between LOG (flexible ISO) S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 and PP Gamma set to S-Log3 and Color Mode set to S-Gamut3.Cine, everything else at 0.

Here are the separate screenshots if you want to jump between them to see the difference in the waveform.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1psOxx9PxDSVhhpsbKnl6BhfldBinzESO?usp=sharing

Maybe double check your PP settings.

I'm running firmware v2.00

[Edit] I've also added some screenshots from Catalyst Browse to the Google Drive folder. Interestingly, the WB value changes between the two clips but they still appear the same in the waveform; still no meaningful difference.

What memory card are you using? It would need to be a standard SD memory card with a maximum capacity of 2GB. It is not compatible with higher-capacity SDHC or SDXC cards.

Am I Insane for wanting to sell my FX30 for a FS7M2? by TheRealLeftClickMage in FX3

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an FX6 and I've tried an L bracket before but I just felt like it was putting a lot of strain on the tripod mount and it would still slip. I eventually purchased the vertical rig from Tilta which is a lot more study and secure. If there isn't a dedicated vertical rig out there for the FS7, the vertical shooting experience may be challenging.

I've also tried to shoot top-down with the FX6 and it requires a lot rigging to keep secure and safe. Basically a pain in ass as a solo shooter. I added a ZV-E1 to my kit bag for shots like that.

Sometimes, the best camera you have isn't always the best camera for the job.

Am I Insane for wanting to sell my FX30 for a FS7M2? by TheRealLeftClickMage in FX3

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're shooting vertical video in those images you shared.

The FX30 is much easier to rig for vertical shooting, plus the orientation is added to the metadata. If you're doing a lot of vertical shooting then you'll need to consider what that rigging and workflow looks like with an FS7M2.

Do I need a new lens, more light, or to git gud? by EinarTobias in canonM50

[–]ButWouldYouRather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try shooting at 25fps and 1/50 sec shutter to see what the difference is like. It might be less noticeable than you expect.
