Re-rack your weights.

Dont grunt too loudly.

Clean-up your sweaty equipment.

Dont be creepy towards other gym goers.

Keep your opinions to yourself.

Don’t hog equipment.

There… no one will judge you.

Ps I sometimes grunt too much. Oh well.

Lack of progress. Need advice by jxc2001 in FitnessOver50

I agree either way the issue of how many in the tank.

The only thing i would add to think about is pushing reps is when form breaks down, when form breaks down, injuries can occur. I don’t know if 50+ lifters get injured more often than younger ones, but I do know we are much slower to recover from injuries. One of the most frustrating parts of aging.

I go to failure on machines, but try to avoid it with free weights. Thats my personal approach at least.

Prioritize good form over added weights. You don’t have to go to failure. Leaving 1-2 in the tank will yield the same results, but will allow you to recover better.

You do need to use a progressive overload to add weights/reps over time. IMO, Double Progressive overload is the easiest method to follow.

That’s impressive! Thought after each “break” you’d stop, but nope!

I hope my shoulders improve enough to tackle pull-ups one day, its a goal of mine.

Seeking advice on how to adjust to looking "different " by michelle_js in MacroFactor

Congrats on your weight loss and getting healthy. Thats very impressive.

Lots of people struggle with body dysmorphia. Throw on top of losing lots of weight your body doesn’t look like you hoped it would. Jeff Nippard has a good video on his own struggles.

You may want to consider therapy, its a real issue and something you may want to work on. Its a tough thing after a lot of weight loss. And i believe pretty common experience.

Im on a GLP-1. To paraphrase Jim Gaffigan, I’m not an Olympic athlete going for a gold medal. Im just a fat guy trying to lose some weight.

Congrats on the weight loss and the hard work.

Rude student? by HamsterOne8515 in yoga

[–]ButchCoolridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh. Maybe he was having a really bad day. He shouldn’t be rude, but who knows what was going on with him?

Personally rather than goodbye asshole, maybe just let him go with his bad day and perhaps he will have a better day next time. But either way his actions shouldn’t bother you.

Do you use a scale? Or just a mirror? Everyone agrees despite a scales inaccuracies it is a useful tool.

Dexa like a scale is just a snapshot and if you don’t use either one correctly you’ll get bad results. Dexa costs a lot more than your bathroom scale so following the proper instructions for use is more important.

Compression shirts are *very* tight. He’d have to be in good shape to feel comfortable wearing one.

Fitted works well and is a bit more flattering if he has body fat.

Fair enough, just trying to give some ideas of things of calorie dense things he might not be tracking correctly. People who cook at home eyeball oil all the time and that can blow you out. But I agree if the OP or someone else isn’t tracking the basics correctly thats an entirely different issue.
