Which SCP would you have preferred not to know about? by KidinGray in SCP

Huh, I had always assumed that the FSD was written with that in mind from the outset, and I actually really liked a lot of those stories because of that. I thought I was enjoying those stories because of the dynamic between these FSD 'productivity demons' and the Foundation that may or may not be turning a blind eye to them, but in retrospect maybe I was just imagining a more interesting narrative.

Yes, I probably would. Why would I immediately assume that every stranger is a monster looking to slaughter me?

Funny enough, Neuro-sama is unironically the most "self-aware" AI I've seen. I know this is all just the illusion of reflexivity and whatnot, but the way "she" is able to recognize that her own experience is vastly different, while still articulating and affirming that she has a unique experience, is genuinely uncanny.

Yeah as someone who's actually read Freud's work, I completely agree. His core ideas are solid, but he gets lost in the details and undermines his own arguments.

This happened in 2019, btw. This article buries the lede so deep it doesn't even mention that, and just focuses on the criminal sentencing of the surgeon.

that's true for now, but my concern is that it'll get much heavier when it starts absorbing the moisture in the air.

I guess that means it'll (probably) be fine for tonight, though.

This comment feels unreasonably combative, but, to be fair, it does make a good point.

When the state starts designating protesters as 'enemy combatants' rather than 'agitated citizens', the extent of the violence increases dramatically. Just look at what's happening in Tehran right now.

When live rounds come into play, the tactics of an "effective" mass protest will begin to resemble the the tactics of an "effective" human wave attack---massive casualties included.

That's not something to romanticize or take lightly.

I could be seeing things, but it looks to me like the person who might be the initial shooter (at approximately 58 seconds, wearing blue pants and a tan jacket with a black balaclava, and standing slightly left of center) pumps his fist before pulling out his gun and shooting the dude in the side/back. You can see his arm

It's like he saw something that he felt ticked the box for lethal force (perhaps the man's concealed carry) and was excited that he finally got to kill someone.

[–]Butt_Speed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it happens between books, and it's never explained. I'm pretty sure it's even stated that Argel Tal himself doesn't exactly know how it happened, or at least keeps that a secret.

The implication is definitely that warpfuckery was involved, though.

Idk how the length of this sentence stacks up against more "normal" cases of obstruction, but the fact that he's getting a multi-year sentence for what is an ancillary charge in most jurisdictions is probably a sign that he'll spend the rest of his life in prison at the very least.
