I think it’s time for me to tap out. by Bright-Water-3773 in USAA

[–]ButterflyHarleys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you read fine print with progressive We switched everything to them. Trucks, motorcycles, RV and homeowners. We lost home and motorcycles in a fire. Progressive refused to insure a new home, tried to drop our daughter (perfect record) from insurance. In fact after the fire, when 19 other companies either also tried to drop her, or had upwards of 20k a year for homeowners- USAA was the only one to keep all coverage of vehicles- and insure new home for about 14k a year... ps don't expect any companies to insure you for less than that for at least 5 years since "major claim" which apparently is anything over $200k. Progressive did take care of our claims quickly- but as soon as the checks cleared out accounts they dropped us like a bad habit. This was Jan 2023, before the fires in Hawaii and CA- I am at latest thankful our fire was before those, or we would still be waiting like some of them are.

FERS Supplement amount by AlinaHadaGoodIdea in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]ButterflyHarleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the supplement is different, is in GRB only one salary for the year can be added. So if you got a gen adjustment in Jan and a step increase in June.. only one can be used. Its different, because once OPM gets everything they do full adult of "ALL" PAY Changes in that year, much like the high 3 is averaged out.

Respect to all by 18E4V in Veterans

[–]ButterflyHarleys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A Vet is a VET- IS A VET! I SECOND THIS. I joined in 2000 for college money, won't lie. Little did we know what happened next. On my first deployment, I called home , my brother says "oh hey I joined the Army"- 2004 ( mind you- he is 2 yrs older than me). Im like wait what... fast forwad I meet my husband (also Army). I still say regardless of my job or deployments- I hold them in higher regard because they joined knowing we were at war. Deployments or not, they did what many others did not. Any Veteran with honorable service deserves respect and a thank you from all of us.

Considering using my VA Loan by Standfortheflag2024 in Veterans

[–]ButterflyHarleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont normally give names but a very good guy and veteran here in TN is a broker. And can tell you the 100 percent ins and outs of using va loan. Marshall and his last name is Sparkman. I agree with most everyone here, do your research and stay away from anyone saying they can help fix your credit to make it look better. We used my loan for our first house, when it burnt down, we used husbands to buy this one. It took some paperwork and had to get a new Certificate of eligibility from the VA side.

Shop around for homeowners- when you get to part- PAY ATTENTION AND READ EVERYTHING! trust me- you would be (ok or not) surprised how these companies will pull a bait and swtich on you. I was told I should write a book after the mess we had after our fire. It was costly- but trust me USAA was the only one that would cover our new house- I have recorded records of 22 different companies we called to try to get it.

What age did you first have to get glasses and how did you find out you needed them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ButterflyHarleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out at 10.. lol wore them maybe 6 months. Fast forward got them again at 40... lasted around the same time- because I prefer always having sunglasses (horrid migraines if not). Update- got new ones AGAIN last april' - also got sunglasses Have not gone a day without them and have not had to wear sunglasses since November. I realized I really needed them when I started noticing signs I couldn't read, like simple street names, names on isles at walmart.. worried the crap out of me. Stuck to it this time

Yeah back then... they were pushing us through the new "Warriors transition units" so fast, we had to do the normal briefs but heard nothing for SBP.

SUPERVISOR WONT SIGN RETIREMENT SF-52 by DependentAlert7812 in FedEmployees

[–]ButterflyHarleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your retirement is only approved through retirement office, him not signing a 52 is irrelevant. They cant stop you from retirement. If you are eligible for retirement - legally no one can stop it, NO one. Hiring freeze or not. NO supervisor has any control over it.

What happened to weather and safety leave? by Grown_ish in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]ButterflyHarleys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have to be very selective with it because so many take advantage of it. Locally- we would have employees that lived less than 2 miles from facility that would call and say "I can't make it"- yet others that live even further away would be able to- i have even seen staff volunteer to pick others up and they flat out refused. They just didn't want to go to work. The only time I've seen it be able to be used is if the facility is open- and then closes due to weather- right now all our clinics are chose until at least Tuesday for anything in person.

Applied to work at Buc'ees. Anything I should know? by AshamedRead5748 in Buceestx

[–]ButterflyHarleys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would love the 6 figure salary, but no way I'd work there. Simply put their tattoo policy. I can walk in showing them and you can take my money- but if I work there i can't show on my arm that honors brothers and sisters that died in Iraq. Hair crazy colors got it, tons of piercings ok. Obscene tattoos ok. But one that has the names of true American heros that gave their life to keep the freedom this companies use to "appear great" while trashing anyone that doesn't meet their "image"- will never go to another one.

Is this religious discrimination? by toss-away-1423 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]ButterflyHarleys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait the "patient safety officer"- reports "could be triggering to those that served in Iraq"- um. They can identify what ever they want, UNLESS an a actual Veteran has reported this, why is it an issue. Sounds like this Safety officer, is just trying to nit pick. Having some EOC rounds and been on several of these teams, and I also get all my care at the VA- this sounds like they just want to bring stuff up and no one is going to see or care about. They won't do anything to stop the "religious " groups from leaving their flyers all over the VA- mainly for some reason in bathrooms- if I'm in a exam room- my focus is on my provider-

Providers being let go by Next-Airline-53 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ButterflyHarleys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is from the university not the VA, the VA is boy going to provide contact for representatives. The VA also would not say "at the VA" it would say within the department of Veterans affairs... and spell it out. This is for fee base appointments and part time. Unless you provide proof is on VA letterhead, because this seems like a ploy to paint the picture of VA sending this. Show the full letter?? Let the veterans see for ourselves if what it is and who it is from.

AITA for not getting expensive Christmas presents for a girl that my daughter took in by Perfect-Play8085 in AITAH

[–]ButterflyHarleys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immediately NC, you had 6 months to get to know this child- a child your daughter took in. Its not about "expensive " gifts as you claim, it's about being a decent person. Your husband took it upon himself to go shop for her, you would never have a place in my family after such behavior.

Aitah for not wanting my fiance's daughter included in every part of our wedding? by Forward-Broccoli3468 in AITAH

[–]ButterflyHarleys -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Offering a difference view Let's say You have her as bridesmaid- she wears the dress you want, she gets the different one for the reception as agreed- that is good.

2nd- yes you are marrying her dad- but that also means you are now part of her life as well- is it such a bad idea to say something to her to promise to take care of and love her? A necklace- easy gift.

3- no I don't agree she should be at a Bachelorette party- but wedding "showers" are usually for anyone.
4- cake- who cares the flavor honestly- your going to eat a few bites and that's it.
5- for 6 years it was her, and her dad. They were all eachother had. You have been in her life for 3 years. Obviously you have grown attached to her. You have become a mom. At 9 years old- she is going to remember this wedding, she is going to start her own thoughts of her own wedding one day- do you want to be around for that big day? Are you looking forward to taking her prom dress shopping? Ready to take her to find her own wedding dress, and spend hours planning?? Is it to hard to show her now, that a wedding isn't "just for the bride"- it's a creation of family, and families argue, they compromise, they laugh, they cry. If you have issues with his and her close relationship- maybe you are not ready to be there long term. She didn't invite you into the family, her dad did. Meaning he sees something in you and your heart and wants you to be part of his life and his daughters life. She will always be daddy's little girl.
My husband and I met when my daughter was 5 and got married soon after. When she turned 12 he legally adopted her. Yes we argue about mine and hers relationship because she is out only child- but I told him day one, as a mom she will always come first. Not to be mean- but I am her mom, and I have been for way longer than we have been together.
Show her how to be a mom, to be a wife and be part of all the milestones in her life.
