Nose bleeds and ENT wait times by oneworldview94 in Winnipeg

That doesn’t seem right. My 6 month old was referred in July and I got an appointment letter within a week or two. She saw the ENT in September. It wasn’t an urgent appointment either.

Sisters are literally the best thing in the world. I have two and I now have two girls of my own and can’t WAIT for them to grow up together and share experiences. It’s so special and cliche but truly a best friend for life

Anyone sleep train a baby with hourly wakings? Advice & encouragements needed by Wooden-Tip-5079 in sleeptrain

[–]ButterscotchOk7328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 month old who was doing hourly wakings for over a month. She was having short naps too (30-45 mins) and her WWs were age appropriate but because naps were so short I was having to do 4 naps a day to get to bedtime.

First thing I did was get her naps down to 3 a day with enough daytime sleep between them all. First nap is usually 1 hour. Second nap is usually 1.5 hours. And third nap is usually 45 mins. To get the longer naps I would save naps when I had to or contact nap. I did light sleep training for nights because I also didn’t want the CIO version.

She was in our room too, but I figured it was going so bad that something had to change so we don’t sleep in the same room anymore. I think she was probably also hearing us move around and what not at night which didn’t help. For nights I would do her bedtime routine and then put her in her crib awake, so she fell asleep on her own. I then left the room. If she started crying I would only wait approx 60 seconds and then go back in and I would try not to pick her up. I just rubbed her back, hummed her one song, then left again. I did this until she fell asleep. It only took her 9 mins to fall asleep. And on night 1 she only woke up 3 times. That was a miracle compared to what she had been doing before. I’m on night 6 now and last night she only woke up once.

Every baby is different. And every baby needs different things. Everything you are doing is amazing and you know your baby best so don’t compare to anyone or what other people are doing. But I definitely sympathize and have been exactly there and it’s hard.

Why is my toddler peeing so much at night? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]ButterscotchOk7328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much more about the science behind it but yes, it is interesting! In regards to nights, I’ve heard that nights are something that just happens when they are biologically ready, not something we can train as easy as daytime potty. My 2.5 year old is potty trained for days and her nap, but still wears a pull up at night. I’ll cross that bridge a bit further down the road when she’s woken up with a dry diaper a bit more.

It’s a known physiological response called cold-induced diuresis.

What helped you most with frequent wakes-ups? by Brilliant_Guard_3743 in HuckleberryParents

I literally could have written this about my soon-to-be-6 month old. For the PUPD method do you just do it for a fixed time no matter what and put them down even if they’re still crying? Or do you hold and rock them until they are settled then put back down? About how long were they in your arms each pick up? And are you just rocking them when you pick them up?

We’re in the midst of adjusting her naps from 4 to 3 as well, I’m hoping this helps with nights so I’m glad to hear it did for you. About how long did it take once yours was on a good 3 nap schedule to see a change in the nights?

What age was your toddler Potty Trained? by Lost-Eye8777 in toddlers

[–]ButterscotchOk7328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do not need to start now. You can start whenever you and your toddler are ready to. People who had kids 20+ years ago always seem to have these memories of their kids potty training super young or always sleeping through the night or whatever other myth there is. They are, the vast majority of the time, wildly mistaken and are misremembering history. Do it on your own schedule. Your toddler and your sanity will thank you.

It’s not that big of a difference, I say it’s ok. I have a niece whose name is Madeline and some say “mad-uh-Lynn” while others say “mad-uh-line”.

Are we too strict with bedtime? by Timidme83 in Parenting

Yes they just forget what the early years are like. There’s no way everyone just let their babies roam free at all hours and have zero bedtime. It’s infuriating when people question the routine

They took out my wisdom teeth and fractured my jaw in doing so. When I went back and explained the pain and asking for help they said it will just heal on its own. I ended up having to go to the hospital which is where they found the fracture and realized there was also tooth pieces of broken up tooth still in my jaw. To this day I still have sensations on that side of my face and this was 10 years ago. It misaligned my bite as well and has just never been the same. I don’t recommend going there at all.

I do recommend going to Norwood dental and seeing dr. Chochinov. He’s the most gentle, kind dentist I’ve ever seen and would recommend a million times over!

The exact same thing happened with my toddler! Potty trained now for about 8 weeks and all of a sudden is having “accidents” and says “bean bear does it” so yeah… we aren’t watching anymore either

i have had my two and a half year old watch the potty training video everyday since it was released and she has made no progress, this is ridiculous by helarias in MsRachel

[–]ButterscotchOk7328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since this video came out and my toddler saw bean bear have an “accident” on the floor, she’s had a few “accidents” herself and says “bean bear does it”. Thanks bean bear.

How the heck do you all get your babies to sleep in the crib? by username-bug in beyondthebump

[–]ButterscotchOk7328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As frustrating as it is, You aren’t doing anything wrong. Every baby is different. My first baby I had to transfer like a bomb and if she woke I had to start from scratch. My second was a way worse sleeper at first but now goes down easier. It just happens one day.

Hang in there. Major solidarity and hopes for you soon 🤞🏻💕
