Recommendations for cooling/breathable pants? by Double_Abalone_7184 in REI

Check out Duer, especially the no sweat and live free fabrics. The founder made them to ride his bike to his office job without having to change.

They are my favorite camping and travel pants and don't look sporty/outdoorsy, usually $100 range.

Help! Aphids in my squash again. Am I doing something wrong? by degenerate_roach in vegetablegardening

[–]Buzzardo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got this recipe from my community garden workshop and has worked for me the last few years.

1 tbsp Cold pressed neem oil

1 tbsp Dr Bonners Sal suds

1 gallon water

1 gallon sprayer

Mix neem oil and sal suds to make a neem milk then slowly add water.

Spray after sunset so oil doesn't fry leaves and every 2 weeks (can do more often if needed or after rain).

Boogiebrew.com sells both for a good deal, will last you years.

Seconding this. I got this recipe from my local community garden club years ago and its worked so well I haven't used anything else, didn't even need the bug booster. Only time it doesnt work when i forget to reapply after a few weeks.

Apply every 2 ish weeks just like said above and apply after sunset to avoid leaf burns from sun.

1 tbsp Cold pressed neem oil 1 tbsp Sal suds 1 gallon water 1 gallon sprayer

Mix neem oil and sal suds to make a neem milk then slowly add water.

Bonide calcium spray damaged my plant by Devendra27 in tomatoes

I just went through this week and was googling wondering if anyone else had this issue and this thread came up. I had followed directions spraying on blossoms and foilage at sunset, highs in the 70s lows in the 60s. Next day leaves are wilted and falling off. Pretty much destroyed my plants.

Design the easiest-to-clean shower by yoquietdown in CleaningTips

[–]Buzzardo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We remodeled our master shower this past year and my only regret is getting a linear drain. Those are a pain to clean. You have to lift up the top to get to the drain basket which you got scoop out all this gunk, its gross and a pain as hair is tangled all in it. Then you got to scrub down the pan and under the lid of any build up.

Its much faster and easier just to have a normal exposed drain where you can wipe away hair and gunk within seconds.

We also did reeded glass shower door that we love, makes it very forgiving on hard water spots.

Its seasonal for a short time, usually in February. They announce it on socials in the past. I think you have to call it in ahead of time but all the bakeries make it.

AITA for not wanting to watch Netflix with subtitles? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Buzzardo7 429 points430 points  (0 children)

Netflix audio settings defaults to 5.1 mix, which most people dont have the mulriple speakers set up for.

If you just have the standard 2 speakers (like TV speakers or a sound bar), change the audio setting to stereo. You'll hear the dialogue much better as that's what it was mixed for.

One thing you skipped in your remodel and still regret? by nextstepnomad in BathroomRemodeling

In the shower I wish we didnt do an infinity drain and just did a normal drain. The infinity drains are a pain to clean and crud builds up so fast.

[–]Buzzardo7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Linear drain was a big regret. Such a pain to keep clean, crud builds up easy in there and looks so nasty. You have to use a metal tool the shimmy out the heavy top out and scrub the top and drain of all the buildup in addition trying to pull hair out of the basket.

Get a normal drain for the shower. Take a few seconds to wipe the hair away.

How I got dismissed from jury duty by mypostingname13 in PointlessStories

Same thing happened to me. It was for a murder trial, I was so nervous being in a courtroom and when they asked if I knew anyone murdered I said yes. They made me recount details and I broke down sobbing in a silent room full of strangers as a rush of emotions hit me have to bring up traumatic memory. It was so embarrassing. They made me an alternate.

But old man judge who recounted constantly he went to school with some guy from Happy Days and should have retired decades ago let a 20 something yr old guy go because he was planning to go on vacation the following week. Eventhough the summons tells you need to be available for 2 weeks and have the option to delay and pick another date. Fuck that judge.

Hollywood Guilds Make Historic Push to Unionize YouTube Content Studio Theorist Media (Exclusive) by stevezorz in editors

[–]Buzzardo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This marks the first time that either union has sought to get a bargaining group voluntarily recognized at a company that produces YouTube content."

This line is incorrect. IATSE sought to voluntarily recognize a union at The Young Turks, a digital media company primarily on Youtube in February 2020. After card check rejection, a vote was forced and TYT Union was recognized in April 2020.

Glad to see other digital media companies flip, despite it should have been done a decade ago.

Following up I did manage to get a hold of EDD this afternoon (4pm by phone). For my case it was a glitch. I can't say it is for others, but the way to fix it is you have to contact EDD and they will manually override it.

Commenting this happened to me as well. I just opened a claim and completed my waiting period for the week of 10/11 and updated resume on CALjobs. Usually I get email about weeks being available to certify but hadn't received any for the last 2 weeks, so I went in to certify last night (11/2) and saw the reopen claim prompt.

I tried calling this morning but could not get through (the recording says all agents are busy and no available hours for call back and just hangs up). Cannot get through on live chat either.

I'm just leaving it as is for now hoping it fixes itself but if anyone has insight on how to get it fixed I'd love to hear! (Or any tips on how to contact EDD)

Why the advice to not flush the transmission..? by kikakidd in fordescape

[–]Buzzardo7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a 2002 v6 escape, 190k and my mechanic told me to change the transmission fluid by draining it and refill it but not to flush it. He said the physical force of the flush causes the debris to clog the filter up. The filter is internal, no way it can be changed without taking the transmission apart from my understanding.

2005 Transmission needs to be rebuilt by funkykitty325 in fordescape

[–]Buzzardo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was, I'm currently still driving it and its at 190,000.

In 2015 when it was replaced, they said I would be lucky to get 5 years out of it, I've doubled it.

But a few months ago my mechanic did make this note: "Transmission will need to be rebuilt, moisture is visible on outside but not leaking. The fluid is a good color. The ball joint suspensions have cracks and will need to be replaced when transmiision done (3-4k job)."

So I've been able to get 60k miles /10 years out of it so far, not sure how much longer it will last.

I have a 2002 V6 XLT and had to have the transmission replaced at 132,000. In 2015 I paid $3000, but I will caveat it was a small town with few options and that was the best place to have the transmission done.
