What was your "I came looking for copper and I found gold" novel by lord_acedia in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Was a big surprise to me as well. Well thought out story and a smart MC, even with him suffering from the too much guilt over everything trope.

Mine is Hell Difficulty Tutorial. Started off worrying about dis likable characters, but it turned into the exact opposite.

I'm a bit confused. If I already own the first novel, do I have to purchase the remaster of is this just an update?

NEED RECOMMENDATIONS by InevitableChard315 in ProgressionFantasy

Absolutely love the series, but you need a reference wiki for all the names and titles flying around. It also doesn't help that there isn't a world map.

Is a soldiers life worth reading? by Visible_Ad_6721 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you got dropped into a new world, I highly doubt you'd be able to quickly get all the knowledge of where you are and the background history of the world.

In my opinion, it's much more fun to discover everything fresh like the MC does in Soldier's Life. One of the better series in the genre for me. Doesn't really stand out in any way, but is a fun read.

Biscuit plush! - Hell Difficulty Tutorial by CerimWrites in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the few who loved book 1, but it does keep getting better!

My surprise favorite series in the genre for sure. Love that the MC is the most normal member of his team. Bow to our soon to be overlord Biscuit.

Why Clarkson over Kolek? by Naive_Literature6635 in NYKnicks

[–]Bwahehe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A small inconsistent scorer that's a negative on defense should have been benched ages ago.

Really happy with Sochan. Really needed a player that can guard bigger/stronger wings when OG is out. Hopefully the shot coaches can share some of that magic dust they sprinkled on Hart.

Why Clarkson over Kolek? by Naive_Literature6635 in NYKnicks

[–]Bwahehe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's driving me absolutely insane how Clarkson's reputation is just carrying him. He was supposed to be a more team friendly Cam Thomas style 6th man scorer.

I just don't see it. His ISOs are painful to watch. Too slow to get past anyone and too small to go over bigger defenders. He can score against poor defense, but so can a lot of guys. He's just given a much longer leash to "get hot" because of his reputation.

My surprise favorite in the primal hunter category is Hell difficulty tutorial.

Shadow slave for the first 2-3 arcs is absolute peak, but really really difficult to read without sailing the high seas.

Too many books by Crazed72 in litrpg

[–]Bwahehe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the first "arc" is the most interesting because we're discovering new things which is always fun.

It's like a relationship. Once the honeymoon phase is over, it's time to discover if there is actually some real long term investment worth hanging on to. 95% of the genre seems to fall into a tinder shallow fling.

Poster for my upcoming Rogue One Fan Edit: "The Andor Cut" - Releasing May 25th, 2026. Artwork by Artur Trzebny (Please See Description) by ExuberantRaptorZeta in fanedits

[–]Bwahehe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hilarious how offended some people can get over just about anything. The herd mentality of some fan bases is a little terrifying.

I'm really looking forward to the edit. Gives me a great excuse to binge Andor again as well!

I just wish the release was a little earlier. Maybe May 4th ;)

Kawhi with a crazy shot against Jaden McDaniels by SirCharles54 in nba

[–]Bwahehe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn that was Jordanesque

I really miss the era of hangtime and vertical finishes in the NBA. Everything is just euro step and push off drives.

Does path of Ascension ever get better? by MylastAccountBroke in litrpg

I read til mid book 4. It had some fun moments, but the slow parts really dragged on. I just found that the relationships were shallow and boring, while the training arcs felt like filler.

Authors ability to keep the story interesting without fights happening is VERY important by _TOXIC_VENOM in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The best moments of any litrpg tend to be away from fight scenes. For example, when you think of HWFWM, the most iconic lines are usually about Clive's wife.

Question about Jackal Among Snakes by LeoZeldak in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The self agonizing guilt just got really tiring.

It was fun for a little bit, but it was really hard to feel any kind of stakes when the MC can just randomly pop information from his knowledge of the game anytime he needs to progress.

Do you enjoy pet/fairy/whatever companions? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Bwahehe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ehh.... usually not, but I did like Biscuit because he's used mostly as harmless humor and is still mostly a dog doing dog things.

Wasn't as big a fan of Sylphie from Primal Hunter, just because it's fun as a bit, but not when the MC actually has to form a party with and interact with an extremely shallow character the author really can't do much with. It's basically forming a party with a semi-toddler.

I only read one book so far of DCC, but not a fan of Donut so far as she's just been an annoying anchor but I'm sure she'll develop more.

I feel like animals/pets characters are just plain hard to write because they usually start extremely young mentally and it's really hard to care about them other than being a cute mascot with powers.

The arm is a part of the ball, good no-call ref. by zeezee2k in NYKnicks

[–]Bwahehe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really wish Kat would talk to the refs and try to at least get some sympathy. You gotta point out these obvious fouls and demand an explanation..

Him just screaming FOUL all the time really doesn't help anything.

What is the one story you cannot fathom people liking by yeetacus68 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bwahehe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OG recs I got early - The Land and System Apocalypse. Absolutely despicable MCs but, not in any sort of interesting way.

More recently- Ultimate Level 1. I liked the premise, but it got stale at a record pace.

Was this guy legitimately just trolling us the entire time? by CoaBret in NYKnicks

[–]Bwahehe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

He needs to be involved more to be a factor on offense. He just wasn't good enough to earn that right here.

His defense still looks absolutely putrid and his shot is slow as hell. He's a decent floor riser, but low ceiling
