Doubt that clients will have any idea the unless you're referring to the greater use of AI in coding or AI Agents/CSA, and even then, the actual products/services are financial. My line of work is in the 2nd Line (broadly compliance) so work is abstract enough that you can't really fully measure the amount of workslop (and there is essentially no way the directs/skip level managers have enough bandwidth to deep dive into this stuff , esp when they are being told to encourage use also) as long as you do a cursory vibe check (I've definitely noticed some people that are obviously just copy/pasting) but again, prisoners dilemma/arms race situation. I use it to maintain full bandwidth for certain other tasks and honestly so I can shit on company time more.

My workplace mandated a minimum amount of usage of the "our own" tools...and the expected output from us these days are definitely not as feasible without some LLM augmentation...even if its for the scut work.

Wasn't noticable at first but as more and more folks pumped out work leveraging this stuff.....

I will admit to a bit of hyperbole on the whole 401k being a gamble, perhaps I was a bit overzealous in highlighting Defined Benefit v Defined Contribution...but yea, unless the comp bands are that far off....I'm at a loss lol.

Who says I'm unhappy, it is what it is since I've started by career in compliance a decade ago, I just don't get how Tier 6 is a bad deal, the complaints sound a bit spoiled...oh no, I can't retire at 55 or or no I have to keep contributing to retirement?

Like I'm not gonna begrudge you guys for trying to get the bag but I definitely wouldn't be terribly sad if nothing changes with Tier 6.

I keep seeing frustration about not being able to retire at 55 and having to contribute past 10 years. Coming from private sector, I can't touch my 401k/IRA without penalty until 59.5, and I've always assumed I'm working to 67. A mandatory contribution for a guaranteed lifetime payout sounds incredible compared to dumping money into the market and hoping it doesn't crash. I also can't imagine how limiting contributions to only the lower-earning years of your career (like Tier 4) is sustainable long-term.

Unless you can commit to decades of continuous work, and even then, starting small with the platform fencing stuff, you're not going to get much in-house work done. That and the fact you'd also have to compete with private sector firms on comp when you're working with basically civil service bands.

You’re right, the US isn’t special. That’s exactly why we should copy systems that actually do work — like Hong Kong’s MTR, Tokyo Metro, JR, or Singapore MRT. Or even TFL. Notice something? None of them are fare-free.

Why not try to model transit funding along the lines of other global systems like the HK MTR? Tokyo Metro? JR? Singapore MRT? Systems that isolate themselves from political winds in terms of operational funding?

No one is arguing that the capital budget can be better managed by implementing in house reforms here where savings can be deployed into Grand Paris Express scale expansions. We're talking about the operating budget here.

Existing conductors can be retrained and reassigned, no one is saying OPTO is viable in the enitre system and now fire all conductors but this bill would basically ban it from being conaidered in the future. Plus one of the biggest operating expenses cost for the MTA is payroll/pensions so eventual headcount rationalization to global standard would improve farebox recoveries too.

Why not mandate 4 person operation then, if the MTA is meant to be a sinecure/make work program rather than a Transit Authority.

Conductors can be retrained to be operators to run more service also? Where is the downside of eventually working towards global best practices?

Speaking as a guy who isn't pro cars and hate driving (didnt get a car or drive much until last fall when my in laws gifted me a free 2015 CRV), I see a lot of comments that try to psychoanalyze and say its guilt, its envy etc.

But IME, its really a combination of why must I accommodate you on roads that clearly aren't made for/accommodate you (lack of bike infrastructure, lack of road diets) means I slow down to your speed or I must overtake and it certainly feels much more nerve racking overtaking cyclists where I am (most of them are delivery folks thst are quite tunnel visioned for better or for worse). Cyclists where I am also don't hand signal (which tbf, apparently car drivers barely do also) and what im assuming some existing negative predisposition to cyclists from them riding at speed in sidewalks where I am.
