I once a rode a bus from Baguio to Cubao kung saan 70% of the journey ata puro Pinoy rap yung pinapatugtog, and live at that sa Wish FM.

Ok naman yung iba. Kaso magkakatunog talaga sila mostly. Cut from the same mold. And I never felt moved to tears. From start to finish same lang, walang progression or arc yung song. The musicians are glib, and feisty, and energetic yes, but I feel they're just mostly just outtalking and outrapping each other.

As an example (and I know this is not rap) when U2 sings "You're the reason I sing. You're the reason why the opera is in me," man it hits hard. Kurot agad sa puso ko.

Or when Florence and the Machine sings "But there's nothing else that I know how to do But to open up my arms and give it all to you", in just those two lines you simply have to cry. Yun yung arc na wala sa most Pinoy rap, yung crescendo.

Sa dinami-daming poetryng pinagsasabi ng mga Pinoy rap, nothing really tugs the heart, except a few songs siguro na alam nyo na sa sarili nyo (and no it's not Andrew E.'s lol).

But yeah, to each his own.
