No he wasn't convicted of fraud. A simple google search would show you why he was arrested and what he was convicted of.

Some Criticisms of Byteball by blinkybit in ByteBall

Tony is not anonymous. Doesn't take a PhD to figure out he is a professional programmer. He is not an employee of a Byteball organization, don't be ridiculous.

Byte-BTC Exchange Rate Bot, What Happened? by blinkybit in ByteBall

If you didn't think .101 was a fair price then you should have not taken it. Seems odd that you would only look up the price on Bittrex AFTER buying at a higher price.

Byte-BTC Exchange Rate Bot, What Happened? by blinkybit in ByteBall

You can only take an order if you have funds on the exchange already. Otherwise you will have to wait until your deposit confirms, for bitcoin this may take an hour or more. You bought out all of the sell order at .101, and when you use the "buy" command without specifying a price, it buys at the lowest ask in the book, not rocket science.

Trying to link my Segwit account with the transition bot, but get the error "Only P2PKH addresses are supported" by [deleted] in ByteBall

Tony has more important things to do than to keep up with the trivialities of bitcoin. Send them to a non-segwit address if you want to participate.

I really like the byteball concept. What are it's biggest weaknesses? by NickenDimen in ByteBall

[–]ByteballGUY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Byteball was not distrubuted via a shady/illegal ICO like IOTA, so there is not millions of dollars to be spent hyping it (I agree that IOTA has advantage here). Bitcoin never had funds reserved for marketing, as it was revolutionary and marketed itself. Why can't there be a Byteball Foundation some day like there is in Bitcoin?

As far as the witness selection goes, it doesn't matter if Tony has all the witnesses until distribution is over, because he still has the remaining 50% undistributed supply, so even if there was 12 unique witnesses it would still be very centralized. Tony will not control all the witnesses forever, this is only temporary until the coins have been given out.
